Pavlik's defence can improve a lot. His decision-making can also get better. Taylor showed improvement and versatility in his last fight. I was encouraged! Abraham will not get better if he is put against easy (C level) opposition as often as he is...he'll just rely on his heart to pull him through against B level fighters. Kessler will improve. His fight against Calzaghe will have made him better. Dawson will definitely improve. His defence can improve a lot; his tactical discipline and decision-making will also improve with experience.
I would love to see a young guy throw power shots with Malice a tall 6'3" guy who is strong and has already KTFO out of another Speedy guy. I would love to see that. Yes a lot more interesting than the proposed fight but it wont happen
If it's true...it's true. But to be honest, I'd rather see Calzaghe against RJJ - to see the tactical battle, than against a smaller, inexperienced Pavlik, who is at a big stylistic disadvantage too...
I dont think there is a great difference between the 2 fights for Joe's legacy, however I agree that the RJJ fight would be the closer. Although lolt of people are writing him off I think he is still clever and wily enough to make it a close fight, I just think Pavlik's style is taylor made for Joe.
The logic of saying Pavli will walk through Calzaghes punches and blow him away just doesnt cut the mustard. nothing in Calzaghes career says that will work, its fact Calzaghe ooks his best against aggressive big hitters. The hardest fight Joe has ever had 'techinically' is Hopkins and he is the complete oposite to Kelly Pavlik. Joe would go to skool on Pavlik in a very worthwhioe UD win. Remember Calzaghe cant call Kelly out too actively - his stablemate hasnt lost to him yet... Calzaghe beating RJJ and Pavlik blowing out Lockett would be a good build up to a superfight between the two, I hope it definately happens.
This would be a fascinating fight and I'm hoping it happens early next year but Calzaghe is now saying only one more fight and retire.
