The one credit that Camacho does deserve is that he boasted beforehand in the presser's leading to the Leonard fight that he was going to be going after Leonard from the opening bell. Camacho had boasted beforehand, "I wont be content just to win. I'm going to be the first to stop Leonard." .......and of that, the Macho Man did not disappoint!
Actually, he pretty much called the fight A to Z. But nobody ever listened too much to the Leonard opposition tactics, it was always strictly about Ray. At the end of the day, he got stopped easily by an old former jr lightweight that was known as a powder puff puncher. I don't see how a result like that can be casually dismissed. I'm sure if a Fullmer or a Griffith or a Benvenuti was tko'd similarly by an old 130 pounder, their stock would drop worse than AOL's.
No credit. Leonard had literally forgotten how to fight and his reflexes had erroded to such an extent that he couldn't defend himself. Camacho looked like Tyson every time he connected. Horrible and f*cked up promotion which was tragically all Leonard's fault. Billy Blanks can work wonders with abs but he can't train a 40 year old, faded veteran to work miracles.

you got to admit it was pretty f%#@ cool watching Hector take him out on the ropes then watching the crowd reaction immediately after. Loved Saraceno's response to O'grady's questions. It was better this way that hector got the satisfaction of winning than Ray
I never tire of it, I don't know why. Ray is formidable let's not fool ourselves he is #8 welter but against the likes of Camacho, Hector showed Sugar things that never crossed his mind. He ambushed Ray, he startled him with his ferocity and turned Sugar ray into a passive minded and mentally broken man. that is why he succumbed so quickly to the attack of Camacho, memories of the distasteful Norris beating also haunting his mind which hastened his defeat
yeah that was bullsh*t. addie is another one of those people that cant accept facts so he invents his own then expects us to actually buy into it. The 3 year layoff was against Hagler. Sorry Addie but it only works on washed up geezers
