He’s still a novice but in the public eye, I think the criticism of him is really high. What level do people think he should be at? He only had about 30 amateur fights and got beat 10 times? Realistically he’s right where he should be. Unfortunately for him, his Surname means he’s in the public eye before he’s even learned a tiny bit of his trade.
I think 30 like Ricky had is a bit of an exaggeration but I see what your saying , Ricky did pad his record early on . Fair play to Campbell for giving it a go he’s only a kid and what can he do when you got Eddie Hearn parading him on Sky Sports because of his name. it’s the right decision to be putting him on cards with not to much coverage. He is very raw and will need many many fights to gain experience and improve. The problem is with the style you need some power to go with it maybe he develops power as he matures, but I just can’t see it.
Lucky lad really, boxing at his standard he should have to have a day job to get by, it's a rubbish backstory because of this, "his dad was a World Champion and, er, he's had to overcome the adversity of never needing to get a job and getting some nasty comments on Instagram when he got absolutely battered and schooled by a part time boxer who was paid to take the L, brave boy". Good luck to Campbell and he can't help the life he's been born into, I just don't like being fed rubbish, he's very lucky, very fortunate, I like boxers that come from nothing, that's what speaks to me more.
Could they have found a bigger pastry for him to fight today? LOL. He still looked terrible trying his hardest to get the finish against a guy who showed no resistance.
Was it bad yes ? Feel for the lad he just can’t punch with the style he has it’s not going to help him get very far .
Yeah I don’t even think the opponent was really hurt he looked out of shape and had enough. Hatton can’t set up a clean shot to save his life he is just a scrappy mess and only gets by on his level of fitness. He landed one good clean hook to the body against a stationary target and that wasn’t even the finish.
Very very fortunate. Especially when the likes of Maxi Hughes beat fighters such as Jono Carroll and Straffon but was still working full time as a painter and decorator to make ends meet.
