i have always been a fan of hopkins but i really can't see him being able to take kovalev's bombs for too long(BHOP is no jake lamotta). yes kovalev brought his chin from the same china shop amir khan got his but there really isn't another possible result besides a KO by body shot. am i wrong?

If the fight with Joe Calzaghe proved anything, it's that Bernard Humphery Hopkins Jr has a weak belt line, the way he was rolling around in agony after Joe punched him on it. That's where Kovalev should focus his attack.

He can avoid taking them flush and also counter them effectively due to his great skills and savvy......will it be enough this time???

the real question is....will kovalev be able to land them? and the answer is: no.

    Probably not.

But it comes down to if Kovalev can land some or not...

True, but it's one thing looking a juggernaut against people who can't discourage you. Hopkins is the master of both lowering volume of fights and also countering/rough-housing.

Kovalev won't have tasted it before and will become frustrated.

I think his best chance is to bum rush BHop early and power him out of there......but you need a chin for that! Does Kov have the minerals...?:think

Do you know the last time Hopkins scored a stoppage victory?

It was more recently than the last time Kovalev went 12.

not for long, no. Kovalev is going to be hitting him everywhere. the arms, the body, the head...

he'll get him out of there in the end. just look what happened when Pascal landed clean.
