Golovkin will eventually move N to 168 and probably make PPV fights at 172/175 vs Kovalev, Ward, etc.

What should give Oscar great negotiating power is including a rematch clause in the contract for an undetermined date, soas Canelo, when he loses to GGG at 160, can bow out gracefully with an ankle turn, giving him a built in excuse to make the rematch at 164 once GGG moves N putting on 10-12lbs of lean muscle.

When he invokes the clause, GGG might be 38/39, have already taken an L from Ward, Kovalev, Beterbiev etc.....and without a doubt, GGG would come back to 164 for a $10-$20 mil cashout fight vs his former heir at MW. :think:think:think

Ggg is a skilled brawler with a high ring IQ, any boxer's worst nightmare. Canelo is slow on his legs, but his combination punching and feints are his only salvation to do a Vince Phillips-Kostya Tszyu like performance against Ggg. I can see Ggg getting stopped, and that's a longshot. Cuz no one is knocking out him out unless it's someone like Kov.

Great! No reason to insist that GGG has to boil down to 155 then ?...

not sure canelo is elite yet. a vet yes, but elite? why? aged cotto is the only elite he has on his resume. its a semi-proof, so canelo is a semi-elite.

that said, theres no proof 3g is elite yet either, and hes 8 year older than Saul.

I wouldn't want this fight to happen now let Canelo fight another 160lb fighter then gain abit of confidence at new weight....Give the belt up and fight a few middleweights then go for the big one.. we all know what will happen if he fought GGG now its not fair

    "It's not fair"

Really? Was Canelo sparking a brittle jawed, outweighed, welterweight fair?

People are only asking Canelo to move 5lb north and fight somebody in his OWN WEIGHT CLASS.

 Canelo's gonna get his A$$ KICKED !!!

:D I expect this fight to be brutal, with GGG's jab keeping Canelo off-balanced. GGG will cut off the ring forcing Canelo against the ropes.

:rofl GGG's superior skill level and power makes for a long night for Canelo.

    ;)

Canelo is a overprotected B level fighter that comes into the ring mid 170's

Before reading any of the replies here's my perspective.

Canelo is quicker, better boxer, better defensively, one of the best counter punchers, bigger (on fight night) with better footwork and intangibles. Golovkin has +++ accumulation KO power, a very good jab, very good offensive ****nal, able to cut off the ring.

The questions are Canelo's-Endurance and chin, Golovkins-inside fighting, ability to take body shots and chin as we've never see anyone with good power hit him.

I think Golovkin will get overzealous and start getting countered specifically to the body with the left hook. He'll be able to hit cinnamon clean and his chin will be tested. However I think gggs chin and body get tested severely for the first time, while he's getting outboxed (as Canelo is the class boxer) and it ends up being too much for golovkin TKO. However, I can also see golovkin hitting canelo with a few really good shots and closing the show if he lands something special. If it goes to the cards Canelo UD.
