I am a Cotto fan, but I don't think he is stronger than Martinez, but I would agree he is more skilled. And without putting too much emphasis on Martinez 1 punch KO of Williams, his power seems to have improved as he moved up in weight, which is why his KO% is low. His speed combined with that improving power and his size advantage, seems a recipe for disaster for Cotto.

Martinez is good but he has a lot of technical deficiencys made up for by athleticism

the guy can be hit and can be jabbed

Cotto however has a hard time with speed, hard time with guys who throw a lot of punches and has poor body language when hurt like all the back peddling vs Margo and Clottey

Plus cotto ignores the body now

let me see his Mayorga fight then ill make a call

He has a better chance against Martinez than he does against Margarito IMO.

I see Margarito stopping him again where as with Martinez it can be a boxing match he could pull off.

Man I regret betting against Cotto in fights like Quintana, Mosley and... damn even Malignaggi, and I do think Cotto could've been better as a boxer off the power jab than the flawed boxer-puncher he became, but boxing with the better boxer is a ticket to a wide decision loss. The jab Steward is building Miguel's game around is largely ineffective vs. Maravilla, Cotto's best chance is his old pressure type of boxing-punching with a lot of body work and physical fighting. That of course at 154-155lbs could be a lot less effective than at 140/147, but it's still a better chance than boxing with the longer, faster, more mobile and busier boxer. It's a highly competitive fight, but Steward could be Cotto's undoing in this particular clash of styles.

Martinez is ridiculously overrated on this forum. Its as if he had become the most strongest, fastest and technically smartest fighter in the sport P4P because of one win. Peeps forget he lost control of the fight against Pavlik until Pavlik got a gash above his eye that kept bleeding profusely.

With that said a good jab will keep Martinez at bay. Cotto's jab will be a determinant weapon against Maravilla. As long as Cotto doesnt re-open any old wounds I like his chances a lot.
