He sure can. Especially considering that the Nevade State Athletic Commission ignores all his positive drug tests, thus letting him take whatever and how much of what he pleases.

Makes success much easier playing on a tilted field.

No I think at 36 Hopkins was way more of a physical monster and he has that height to help him. He's a master of range and his legs never got old, even though his punch output did. I think Floyd was much more of a speed and mobility guy than Hopkins ever was and this has affected his legs. I can't see him fighting past 40 - look at how very very bad Sugar Ray leonard and Sweet Pea looked when the speed started to go. That last fight in Pernell's career is just sad - a shoulder, but he didn't look good.

Also, Hopkins is just a very very tough man. I think that Floyd is tough in a different way but that he is more vulnerable emotionally, and that there is some pressure that might crack him. Hopkins can get hit hard, wobbled, and still know that he is the baddest man alive - he just has that attitude.

Floyd has to believe in his own perfection, not his toughness.

Good point about the size difference. Yeah, the lower in weight you go, the faster guys are and workrate can be a factor. Bhop controls fights with his mastery of range. He can literally take a Sunday stroll in some of his fights and barely break a sweat. But against an elite ww, it's harder to do that as guys are faster and quicker and the difference in age can be more apparent.

short answer - no, bad hands. long answer - he relies on his speed and reflexes to counter punch all of which will diminish as he gets older.

I don't think he would remain undefeated into his 40's if he continues to fight the caliber of opposition he has for the past many years.

Floyd could probably fight to his 50's and still be undeafeated, period.

Floyd wouldn't take a fight that he's not 100% sure that he can't win it, period. Plus that in sparrings and training camps he can see in what condition/shape he is and if he still has something in his tank. I'd add here he's impressive top level experience plus his boxing IQ.
