I do? ...because Wlad's decline the last few years hasn't been the subject of countless articles, posts, and comments on this and every other board and in every avenue of boxing discussion? :huh People, including myself, haven't been saying for a long time now that Wlad is liable to lose any time now to somebody he would have easily beaten earlier in his reign once the inner fire goes out along with his rapidly dulling physical tools? He outworked an intimidated and mentally checked out Wladimir Klitschko who, even on nights recently when he did show up to fight, was clearly not the same man physically anymore (see: his struggles with Jennings, and to a much lesser extent Pulev) - bravo. He deserves the belt for doing what he needed to do on the night after having gotten himself into that position. He still has never in his life put on a performance - and this includes yesterday's - that convinces me he is this elite talent some of you have been hyping Fury up as for years. Sorry.
If all you Wlad nuthuggers were so concerned about his apparent downward trajectory, how come you all gave Fury 0% chance of winning? Why are we only hearing about this sudden decline now after Fury schooled him?
Exactly prince, IB taught wlad would smash fury And ib you will be convinced the gypsy king will reign for 15 years
I'm not a Wlad nut-hugger. I'd have been happy to see him lose to literally any other recent challenger. I rooted hard for Povetkin, Jennings, and Pulev against him - and gave them all chances for the exact reasons mentioned. I gave him 0% chance of winning because he absolutely doesn't stand up to some of the punches Wlad threw & landed on the aforementioned contenders. Wlad didn't start throwing with bad intentions until he was already too gassed to hurt Fury. If he fought the way he did against the rest, he would knock Fury out, end of story. You aren't only just now hearing about the decline. Open your eyes. It just wasn't until yesterday that he mentally packed in to go along with his physical decline.
Maybe....maybe not, I don't think it was an impressive enough victory to consider him a future ATG, it was a cowardly and embarrassing performance from both participants that I found disheartening to watch, I don't think a washed up older gunshy Wlad losing to a guy who feinting his way through a HW title match and landed 2 or 3 clean shots per round is anything to crow about.
Wait, what? Now you're literally making stuff up. Please point me in the direction of these countless articles and discussions on Wlads apparent decline. You can't, because they don't exist. All we heard before last night is how unbeatable Wlad is, how Furys a bum with no chance etc etc Man up and eat your crow. Wlad isn't as good as you thought, and Fury is far, far better than you thought. Deal with it.
I don't normally agree with you, but I do here. Its the same thing from most fans on every side though. Wlad haters said "so and so" is a great hw who will destroy Wlad, but then that person becomes a bum after Wlad beats them. Now Wlad becomes shot after he's beaten by someone Fury haters don't like.
Furys style, gameplan, size and skill didn't allow Wlad to fight him the same way he fought Povetkin, Pulev, Jennings. I find it astonishing you fail to grasp this.
If Fury stood there wide open like Pulev and got layed out by a left hook , people would be saying Wlad is still great this and Wlad is great that. People were actually saying that left hook was unavoidable:roll: Fury was never going to get Pulev'd because the times Wlad went for the left hook KO , Fury caught it on the gloves or was half way across the ring when it was in mid air. Furys movement , reach and willingness to throw in close , to the head and body won him the fight. It had nothing to do with Wlad ageing over night. He was energetic and sharp right up till the last round. And Wlad couldn't move Fury in the clinches and that was also pivitol to his defeat. The tactic he has relied on so heavily over the past 10 years got turned around and used on him. That shattered his confidence. Go back and look how easily Wlad rag dolled Pulev around the ring. Against Fury , he kept turning his back and going the other way simply because he couldn't out muscle him. This would be a huge factor against Wlad at any point of his career. Wlad would have most likely levelled all his other challengers last night- Glazov , Tarver , Takam , Chagev etc It was a great win for Fury and he deserves his credit.
That sort of thing becomes apparent over the course of a fight. Not from the opening bell. Wladimir had the same wild-eyed, scared look in his eyes as the first seconds ticked off the clock as he did several rounds later. I find it astonishing you fail to grasp this.
Never thought I'd find myself agreeing with Dino so often. Except I do think age at least played a role.
You are so far off the mark its unreal. These things become apparent over the course of the fight? It was obvious right from the start Fury was forcing Wlad into a totally different fight to what he's used to. Took him completely out of his comfort zone from the opening bell.
