I can't help feeling a small amount of sympathy for Fury, not of course in his pocket as he has already and will continue to make a fortune, it's more to do with reputation. Let's look at all what has just happened and the scenarios. He beats Klitschko (over the hill) He beat Klitschko a second time (see above) He beats Wilder (he was over hyped basket player, never top class) He beats David Haye (over the hill/should have stayed retired) He beats Joshua (turns out he wasn't work class after all/bruno jaw) None of the above will have the so called experts and general boxing public saying, do you know what, he beat this guy so is the real deal. Perhaps the others should fight Klitschko first to see how they get and find out quite how 'washed up' he really is.
It's because he just doesn't look very good, he doesn't throw his punches properly, his technique is not good and he is always getting his feet out of position. He's never going to be rated that highly by most simply because he looks awful, compare him to golovkin who gets rated so highly even without a win as good as klitschko, but his boxing is beautiful. Tyson fury is effective though, he'll be hard to beat if he stays focused, it will take a durable puncher who's not gonna be afraid to take a punch to get his own off.
Exactly I want to see wlad continue and destroy more of the competition just to show everyone how good fury really is
Thats modern boxing mate. Fans and the media just slate everything a boxer does and most of what is said is negative such as he ducked this guy or the level is low now , the other guy was over hill or hyped blah blah blah. Credit is rarely given. Look at most posters on here they write negative comments non stop about most fighters with maybe the odd positive on one fighter they like and thats if they write about boxing
I see your point LRR but is it really fair to compare super heavyweights with middleweights who have that exciting combination of size and mobility ? Maybe Tyson (Mike) was the exception in his prime but he was a small heavyweight.
I agree Wayne, people much prefer to be negative than positive. When they can no longer criticise their ability (such as Mayweather and Ward) then they are labelled with boring and evasive !! Maybe there should be more of a distinction between a good 'fighter' (Froch, Benn etc) and a good 'boxer' such as those mentioned above.
Great Point regarding Wlad. Lets throw AJ and Wilder infront of him to see how shot he really is eh. Can't see it myself but you're right Fury will never get the credit he deserves.
Maybe not fair to compare him to golovkin in terms of mobility and footwork, but throwing punches correctly is basic stuff. there has been plenty of big men more exciting than Wlad and Fury.
And then if you have an opinion on here and want to discuss you normally get insulted lol sometimes it is funny but it is a shame most posts turn into a slag ging match. The fight saturday was poor in terms of excitement if you were a neutral. I wanted fury to win, though im no great fan of his style but i do respect he says what he wants and isnt scared to answer honest when asked about various subjects
I thought in the 11 round he had an exhausted wlad almost ready to go. I hope there is no rematch tbh
There's people on here who will never give certain boxers any credit. Many of them profess to know everything about boxing without lacing up a pair of gloves themselves. Until you do it yourself, you won't realise how tough a sport boxing is, and how tough it is to make it to the top. Everyone's a critic these days.
Sadly it seems to be the way of picking apart any fighter.Should of done this,should of fought XYZ etc. The man went to Germany took the titles off a dominant champion of over a decade,great achievement hats off to him.
Look at mayweather. Every one he beat was "apparently" a bum. Ali never got so highly regarded until he retired. Generally speaking most people are ****ers. Never give credit to anyone for anytin.
