People are trying to help this guy out. You should respect that.

Sprints is high intensity, makes it harder to do boxing later in the same day. Running more than 5 miles isn't useful for a lot of other reasons...

I agree and im not overweight im just looking to lose a kilo. Obviously i didnt mean everyday for long a month or so i meant just this week and maybe the next.

I dont recall asking about getting fit i just want to lose the last kilo and thought that long slow runs burn more calories and hence would be better then sprints

Long slow runs will burn more calories than higher intensity sprints/intervals, while you are actually running.

However the intense nature of sprints/intervals increases your matabolism as your body tries to repair itself, so over a period of 24-48 hours, you will burn more from sprints than you would running everyday.

Try mixing it up 3-4 times per week. Say 1 sprint session, 1 interval session (400M-600M), and a couple of longer runs.

don't mean to hijack but no point making a new thread.
What do you guys think of doing sprints in the morning and a long run in the afternoon or evening every other day. Isn't this better then doing sprints 1 day long run the next and then sprints again etc?
