JMM is at his best when being chased. Unfortunately, even he knows he won't expect Floyd to move forward. He'll have to make a fight out of it and take the position of an aggressor which is not his best suite.

JMM is technically sound to make the fight a tactical thriller, but he'll be outgunned and outsized.

    Floyd by stinking decision.

too many posts to quote about jmm possibly having a shot at 140 so i'll just say i agree that he has an outside shot at 140...unlikely but hey, crazier things have happened. he's a tough guy who can adapt. the winner of this potential fight meeting the winner of the may 2 fight would line someone's pockets fo sho

Mayweather would have no reason to back up from Marquez and he wouldn't. Mayweather is bigger, stronger, and has all of the physical advantages. Marquez would get stopped in this fight in the same way Hatton did.

Translation. I like J.M.M's style more than Floyd. When it comes to heart, J.M.M does not even compare to Floyd. It aint even close.

If Floyd was still fighting at 140 i think Marquez's chances at beating Floyd would be better but even so I'm not sure...BUT at 147 I definitely CAN'T see Marquez beating Floyd at all.

JMM is too small and has a bad style to beat Floyd.

Can somebody name me good technical fighters that are in JMM's league that Mayweather has faced???

I can only think of one sound technical fighter that Mayweather faced......his name is Zab Judah, who outboxed Mayweather through the first half of the fight, but true to his mental midget form, went to pieces physically and mentally in the latter half of the fight.

.....other than Zab, Mayweather has'nt faced a truly great technical fighter in the mold of JMM....thats what makes this matchup so interesting to me.....
Marquez imo is technically a superior boxer to Zab, and he's by far physically and more importantly mentally stronger than Zab, that would make me believe that Marquez could compete with Mayweather down the stretch where Zab could'nt.

I dont believe I'm alone in this because I've heard respected trainers like Emmanuel Steward say that JMM in his opinion is technically a better boxer than Mayweather Jr......

Alot of times the tougher fight for a physically gifted fighter like Mayweather is to fight someone who is a little bit better than him technically.

......I remember a good sound boxer in Montell Griffin giving Roy Jones jr. fits back in the day that Jones was destroying everyone.

I respect everything you typed but....NO!!!

I can't see it and i know what history shows and all but....NO!!!

Is Floyd Mayweather not the smartest fighter you've ever seen in ring???

If not name smarter what i mean by smart

Is the accuracy of a punch

    Offensive timing

    Defensive timing...and

    Ad******g as the fight goes

Marquez might be better technically (I don't think so...and its a known fact Emmanuel Steward hates to praise Floyd...it's a Detroit/GrandRapids thing) but everywhere else he fails...

Fully agree. This would be a win/win for JMM. HE is facing a great fighter and JMM even in defeat would not go easily.
It would be good to see PBF mix it up. If JMM can take his power well then i give JMM a bigger chance at victory. PBF punches pretty hard but can be a little inactive. Also I always said that uppercuts would be very effective against PBFs defense and who else out there throws better uppercuts than JMM? especially in combinations. If he got PBF against the ropes and unleashed some of those combinations you know they would be landing.

i voted possible but it would really be very hard if you would base on their styles and couple it with floyd's size advantage.
