There were quite a few Nishioka vids on the tube, followed him from when he won the interim title as I was big on Vasquez at the time (still am, he's a f'n warrior) and I have to say he's fairly tidy, can be caught, but is comfortable at mid-range and uses his fast feet to bear in and bomb with his left. Decent body puncher too. I think Munroe will be competitive, but he's not a puncher (and to my knowledge Nishioka has never been stopped, maybe once early on, too stoned to be arsed to check boxrec) he's open, and even if he does manage to use his height he will still be open to the bomb. One thing: surely these two will NOT take part in an all-southpaw stinker? Nishioka 5-1 up in rounds, stopes the Bin Man in the 7th, towel gets thrown in with Nishioka piling it on. This is my preferred option as I want to see Nishioka vs Poonsewat (Hasegawa fights the winner :good)I'll obviously be rooting for Munroe on the night, if it actually comes off. There was a bit about it in the news of the world, which is the journalistic quality of an old wives tale.
Munroe is very good in the following departments 1> Stamina 2> Work rate 3> Chin He has a good reach and is tall for the division. It might just be enough depending on the quality of Nishioka who I have only seen twice. I think Nishioka has power but there is a small chance Munroe could use his leaning tactics combined with a tigh defense to escape a ko punch. Kiko couldn't crack him so I think he has a chance against Nishioka. The areas of concern for me are that Munroe has no angles, he is 1 dimensional and he does not have any power punches. His best chance would be if Maloney could get him a crack in the UK. I'm a Bernard Dunne fan and I would be rooting for Munroe because I think it would be great and I am publishing this opinion with no bias and hope that the whole munroe v dunne debate will stop. Their both great boxers and they don't need to be compared to each other. Their also 2 great guys and great ambassadors for the sport in my opinion.
Well the Stoppage over Gonzalez was very very impressive if i remember rightly..body shot?? if he's consistently around that level then Munroe won't beat him unless it becomes like Dunne-Cordoba and the fight is just a war of wills.
No that was Penalosa who stopped Gonzalez on a body shot(after Penalosa lost every round and was taking a bit of a hammering). Nishioka laid on Jhonny flat on his back with one straight left. Watched Munroe v Maludrottu yesterday, had Maludrottu winning 115-113. Doesn't bode well for Rendall trying to win at World level if he's losing(imo) at European.
Munroe is frustrating as he looks built for power.Unfortunatley his arms are too long and struggles to find the space and leveridge to use any power he might posess.
I don't know....Mnroe has a very sloppy punch technique...no snap at all.Once he used his physical strength and made Maludrottu fight going backwards it was a lot easier but still he looked a bit spent at the end of the 12th.Had it a draw. Nishioka would give him angles and can fight on the backfoot.Pure workrate won't work against Nishioka. The Japansese fighter woyuld be a big favorite IMO.
