Can Push ups help your bench press?

    It's good but it is such a small aspect of fighting. Tank Abbott can bench press 500 lbs apparently but that didnt help him when he was getting his ass whipped by lack of conditioning and his opponent.

    Strength conditioning for me would be explosive movements that can be sustained throughout the fight. Thus, Fartlek,sprints and explosive weighted burpees in conjunction with Oly lifts would be the way to go.

    couldnt of put it better myself, some people think higher weights = p4p greatness

    Oh well obviously, conditioning is the staple of my beliefs on being an athlete. I merely include bench press as an overall strength builder, however, I have always wanted to be good at one-armed pushups..and I did use the grease the grove method, in fact, you and I talked of it last year on my old account :lol:

    Dont know, but the reverse is certainly true.

    I remember from highschool weight class that we recorded our push ups until failure at the begining and end of the semester and that the extra chest strength from bench presses really improved my ability to do pushups.
