Where Fonzie and Redman are off base, is focusing on Top Rank. HBO headlines Main Events, GYM, K2 , DiBella and Banner Promotions fighters come to mind. SHO has... GBP, and TMT on SHOBOX. That is not bias, that is objective reality.

Top Rank does have their own issues, but also makes fights with other promotions... though they have been keeping PAC in-house.. and yeah Top Rank has had their own share of issues.

I have zero reason to be biased against SHO/GBP for bias sake - I subscribe, because they have put on good cards even though they were in-house. But forget TR/GBP "fued" for a second. When was the last time GBP put in a top guy against a rated DiBella/Banner/MainEvents/GYM/Etc guy?

edit* there will be an occasional exception/extenuating circumstance of course. GBP wanting to expand to UK market will account for Brook

Basically Mayweather didn't want to fight Pacquaio and had to find a way to duck him.

Before people demanded Mayweather to fight Pacquaio, nobody heard of this BS.

GBP was kicked off of HBO for not being loyal enough. Many of these other promoters have tied their loyalty to HBO as they don't want the same happening to them. Doing business with Showtime will comprimise their relationship with HBO. GBP has a very deep and talented roster at this time. Competing with them on Showtime is a losing proposition. As such, they would rather cast their lot with HBO as it's easier to compete for dates.

Also the cold war started with Golden Boy Promotions and Top Rank. Oscar De La Hoya founded GBP, but used to fight for Top Rank. They used to make fights together, but the last ppv they made together was Hatton/Pacquiao.

Mayweather used to fight for Top Rank, but after seeing the money Oscar made after leaving, Floyd decided to buy out his contract and follow suit. Since then, him and Arum have had a bad relationship.

GBP and Top Rank's relationship was already deteriorating over the years and it made things worse when Mayweather aligned with GBP. They had bad blood from the Hatton/pacquiao negotiations. Then one fight later, GBP was given the greenlight by Mayweather 2 hours after Pacquiao/Cotto to start negotiations for Mayweather/Pacquiao.

Obviously the negotiations were very rough and their relationship got even worse, but I think what broke the camels back was when the drug testing issue came up and Pacquiao filed the lawsuit against Mayweather, Oscar and Richard Schaefer. Since then, both companies haven't really tried to work with each other except a few occasions (Lara/Vanes, Gamboa/Ponce, Mares/Donaire).

The issue with the promotion companies is, Stephen Espinoza is the CEO of Showtime. He previously was one of the head chairmen at GBP's. So when he took over Showtime, he started giving GBP a lot more dates and coverage. GBP's stable got bigger and bigger and more of their fighters were fighting on Showtime, so they used that as leverage against HBO. After Mayweather left, Adrien Broner was practically the only fighter left on HBO from GBP.

HBO was working on a longterm deal with Broner and GBP were playing hardball with them and using their Showtime leverage against them. HBO pretty got fed up with it and told them that they'll no longer do business with GBP anymore. So now all of Golden Boy is Showtime.

Well the earliest signs of things being tumultuous between the 2 promotional companies is when Oscar thought he signed Pacman and gave him a "duffel bag " full of money. This caused a lot of issues, and I'm pretty sure there were legal issues that occurred because of that.

It doesn't help at all that 2 of Arum's biggest cashcows of the past 20+ years both left him to start their own promotional companies and just so happen to have been doing business together since 2007 (Oscar and Floyd.)

The Pacquiao debacle started the rift, but they later put their differences aside. The relationship between GBP and TR became contentious again when HBO stopped giving GBP so many dates, and GBP in turn started working with Showtime as well. With GBP working with Showtime and HBO, Top and GBP would sometimes have competing cards. I remember Arum got pissed when GBP put on a Showtime card the same day as the Cotto vs. Margo II ppv. There was also the time when GBP put a Canelo fight on the same day, and in the same city, as the Chavez Jr. vs. Martinez PPV.

Things totally blew up with The Mayweather vs. Pacquiao debacle. Both sides accused the other of lying, lawsuits where filed and lots of grudges were strengthened that still last to this day.
