Commentators were biased as hell tonight, that fight was not even close, Porter outclassed Broner...................
It really was bad, it was like the announcers were not allowed to be critical at all of Broner. I mean it was obvious that Porter fought the same gameplan as Madaina. No one brings this up? No ones says why hasn't Broner worked on this style in gym? It was perfect opening to bring the viewer in and instead they would glorify the one counter punch that he landed after he was ripped by 10-12 punches as if it was close.
Farhood has turned into a Haymon company man since Showtime Boxing effectively shut down. He kind of had to...he could very easily be out of a job.
Farhood definitely is no infallible scorer. He KSAB and has genuine passion for the sport and deep knowledge of it, but his scoring at times is stunningly off-base.
In fairness to him, though (although this is going to sound a bit of a patronizing/backhanded defense) he did spend years on ShoBox never really having to sharpen his skills at scoring competitive matches. Giving prospects the overwhelming majority of rounds unless 'the opponent' made a very obvious case in one is a different kettle of fish than having to score a legit well-matched tight contest. He just isn't very experienced with the latter.
I want to know how the judges got 116-112 on May 2nd. That was a clear Floyd schooling. Maybe it was the $4M cheering section paid for by Pacuqiao.
To be fair to him though, 117-111 wasn't too far off in the Khan - Algieri fight. I had it 8-3 until the last round and the last one wasn't a clear Algieri round even though I scored it for him and had a 116-112 in the end.
haaaa people on here have a very high opinion of themselves. Farhood is the best scorer in the media by far. I would look at your own scorecard very closely before going after Farhood. All 3 fights you mentioned were correctly judged by Farhood, was not off by more than 1 round in any of those cards.
I'm not judging him. Nobody is that consistent, nor infallible. Farhood is generally a very good scorer and superb analyst. Doesn't mean he can't be wrong - and in the case of Porter vs. Broner, he gave Broner rounds he just flat out shouldn't have.
The key to understanding Farhood's scoring, is to take several long swigs of Tequila first. It then becomes clear.
Abuffy is an expert in boxing, he didn't even know the two who were fighting in PBC a couple of weeks ago but he's AN EXPERT, ask him
