to be honest. i like the rankings before much better than now, because before, they do it by year. meaning you have to have a great year to be ranked and the past years doesn't count.

this is the reason why floyd, hamed, and many others fluctuates on the rankings yearly. floyd was somewhere in the top 5 in 1 year, the next year he is out of the top 5, without losing.

    just being fair

    owned!

besides, floyd would not keep the no.1 spot even if he did not retire if he just keeps on fighting the big show instead of the top welterweights back in the middle of 2008.

Pacquiao has been the weakest p4p "#1" of all time.

weakest? how can you justify that?

-Pac has the most number of HOF in his resume
-he's about to get his 7th title..
-he's the only one among all of those p4p #1 who captured 4 lineal titles.
-he's the only one who went across 10 different weight class.
-2 time fighter of the year.
    -he's the most exciting p4p #1 IMO.
-And he's the only asian. Probably something that will never happen in a loonnnnngggg time.

Pac, Dlh, Tito and Shane were never true pfp numbers 1's.

i think what someone was trying to say is that pacquiao is the only #1 p4per that inherited the title due to the current #1 p4per retiring. and i have to agree that de la hoya and pacquiao were probably the weakest #1ers of that group because the only legit and brilliant wins on pacquiao's resume in the last 6 years is vs. barrera #1 and hatton. his other victories were either cherrypickers or rematches that didn't need to happen...i.e. morales 3 because by then morales was already a shot fighter. it just looks impressive to have morales' name on his resume even though morales was definitely shot!

Pac got his pfp title by default because Floyd retired. Floyd got his pfp title because Roy lost I believe. When the top ranked fighter loses, and you are the next in line, more than likely you will vault to the top if you are ranked second. Dlh was voted pfp the best over Jones and we all know that Dlh was not even close to Jones in skill. Fans argued this when it happened.

    Roy Jones 95-99
    Calzaghe 00-08
    Kessler 09......to be continued

My P4P numbers ones don't lose whilst they are top, so my list has more credibility than RING magazine's.

I rank fighters so-called pfp on wins and losses. I didn't think Dlh beat Pea, and Jones losing by DQ which was dubious was not enough for me to remove Jones from being the best fighter in the world at that time.

Seriously people, Floyd's last fight was November 07. He hasn't fought in two years. Whenever someone posts a pound for pound list that includes Rafael Marquez or Israel Vasquez, everyone complains that they shouldn't be on because they haven't done anything since their last fight... which was in March 08.

No double standard. Floyd has to fight and prove he still has it before being pound for pound #1 again. Period.

DLH wasn't P4P when Mosley beat him only when Tito did. And some had Toney as P4P when Roy beat him(Ring had him #2 at the time).

    The difference is they lost.

Last time i checked Mayweather never lost he retired. Two different scenarios:bbb

What you said was that Pacquiao was the only one to get the number one by default.

    This is clearly incorrect.

In either (not all that different) scenario of number two moving to number one because the number one retires, or number two moving to number one because the number one loses to someone else, the position is inherited by default.
