Just coming into a fight at your natural fighting weight?

I've seen numerous Pac critics/haters claim that by Marquez coming into a fight with Pac @ 147, yet weigh in at his normal fight weight of around 144lbs, is somehow less beneficial to him than if he were to dry down to 135 then rehydrate to 144 over night.

Can someone please explain how the latter benefits JMM? :huh

I don't think JMM rehydrates to 144, I think he rehydrates to only 140, correct me if I'm wrong. He was only 142 against Mayweather becuse he bulked up a little. Manny rehdrates up a few pounds if I'm right, so he'd be 146-148

If all that is right, then Manny has a 6-8lb advantage at the 147 limit without any draining etc, effectively the same size advantage Mayweather had

Why can Pac always insist on someone to come down in weight yet he will refuse a catchweight of 140 even though he could make that with no problems at all?

Mayweather was actually around 158 on fightnight, and JMM weighed 144 for the Katsidis fight and looked great. At the most there will be a 4-5lb difference on fightnight between Pac and JMM

Fighters can compete in lower weight classes and maintain their strength. Marquez may come into a fight naturally as a junior welter or a small welterweight, but hes competing with other fighters on the same level. Manny has the physical strength to compete at a much higher weight than his natural weight where as Marquez clearly doesnt.

I think he was 145 vs Kat at fight night (HBO's Tale of the Tape).

So you're saying that it's unfair because Pac is physically stronger than JMM and can handle stronger fighters?

Floyd refused to weigh in on fightnight, but the size difference was quite noticeable and there were rumors going around that Floyd was around 158.

No one knows how much Mayweather weighed, but he doesn't fight in weight classes he has to dehydrate too as it takes away his stamina. So at most I'd guess 150-152 on fight night. His walk around weight when not in training is 155

If JMM was 144 against Katsidis I'd be bet it was with his clothes/boots/protector on, he certainly looked smaller and mroe defined than the 142 he was against Mayweather.

Theres a reason Marquez wants the fight at 140 and its not because he likes to rehydrate :patsch

It could be a benefit if it's part of the training ritual to get into peak shape.

Obviously, there's SOMETHING that helps him out. He has looked significantly better at 135 than he did at 144, even if he enters the ring the same weight. Both in terms of quickness, flabbiness and reaction time. Marquez physically looked a lot more blown up and barrel chested at 144. Not sure I can exactly explain why, but if you can't see that, then you're ignoring facts.

Marquez who doesn't know what Mayweather said he thought Mayweather was 160 in the ring, Mayweathers walk around weight is 155 when hes not training for a fight. After training he'd be below that.

What would you say his fight night weight was?

Did I say its unfair? I think its up the fighter to realize what his limitations are and take fights accordingly. JMM is not a big guy, his best weight at this point seems to be under 140.
I do think its unfair that Manny makes his opponents melt down to a uncomfortable weight when he can clearly hang with the bigger men. No reason to make catchweight fights in my opinion.

How do you know Mayweather walks around at 155lb? We KNOW Marquez rehydrated to 145lb against Katsidis because it’s on the HBO tale of the tape, you can’t just assume it includes boots and stuff because it doesn’t fit your argument
