Actually the contracts are usually worded" give or take a pound "for non title fights. That is anywhere in the world but mainly for international fights where the opponent has had a long plane flight. Canelo offered the 160lb champ a 154 non title fight. It really damaged his image.

 

Smith was a test to see if Canelo could hide at 154 for a few more years. He likely can´t (i think his stamina suffers greatly).
Fact is that Canelo will fight Golovkin, there is no way around it.

Na, Canelo will be fighting at 160 by next year. But i do have my doubts as to wheter he will fight Golovkin next year or will he push it to 2018.
BJS is the key to extending that deadline.
