Can we all just admit Manny was never that great?

******ed. Of course he's an ATG. As many weight divisons he has moved up, to not only beat bigger guys, but dominate. Getting wins over Morales, Barrera, and JMM at lower weights was enough to get one of the greats in boxing history. But moving up to beat DLH, Mosley, Marg, Cotto, Clottey, Hatton, etc is huge icing on the cake.
When the WW division was happening (Williams, Mosley, Margarito, Cotto, Clottey) Floyd opted to retire for a couple years until the dust settled. While Pac was taking care of some of his division.

Probably Mayweather is the more better fighter overall, more skilled, etc. Fact is though he's the greatest fighter who didn't fulfill as much as he could. Pac's legacy is greater, but it should be when he hasn't retired 3x, and he fights about every 3-4 months... Mayweather fights once a year, once every year and half and lately it's cherry picking.

This forum is full of people predicting past events.
But remember this: not only that you would have looked extremely stupid when saying this before last night but it's even in this new light, with recent events, that you remain the same... plain stupid.

Jmm is just a juicer imo never seen a guy suddenly able to take so much punishment last couple years yet gets floored and almost ko'd by katsidis and mayweather yet takes at least 10 flush punches from pac in the previous fight and walks through it i know i'll get hanged for it but my hunch is that marquez is on something which enhances his ability to take punishment.

    No.

I can't go that far. I haven't read through the thread, but I can't imagine many people agreeing with this. Manny is still great, but he has definite limitations and weaknesses like very other fighter.

And Manny was in there with a guy whose strengths played on his weaknesses. Not only that, Marquez hit him at the right time with the right punch.

Who's punch resistance goes up as they get old ? I defy anyone to watch pac vs jmm 3 and say marquez isn't on something which helps him take punishment he is defying the laws of nature I just don't buy it my gut instinct is normally right he's on something for sure to suddenly be able at 39 to take flush shots like that over and over.

Am sure it will all come out eventually but mark my words the guys on something off the top of my head I don't think there's ever been anyone in the history of boxing whos punch resistance has gone up as they approach 40.

Depends in ow you interpret great, if you think he's up there with guys like SRL then yes he's overrated. He was never this top 20 ATG people thought he was after beating someone like Cotto. But he's still a great fighter.

No one is as great as made out to be. But he is a good fighter. Floyd isn't that great either but picks his opponents well. styles make fights and you will meet an opponent who has your number if are willing to fight the best out there
