mikey is still developing, believe it or not. he is looking for fighters that are going to show him stuff he has never seen before, and win or lose, hes gonna learn from it and get better.
i always thought lara was overated and canelo just fought the wrong fight. angulo and hurd were no flukes. mikey would ko lara in 10.
there is no weapon that you can bring that mikey cant prepare for. only because his mastery over all the fundamentals tells him which reaction is the most appropriate for every action, and hes got the nerves to react accordingly.
where canelo is at right now, i predicted 3 years ago, both the how and the why. check my post history.

Hmmm, you think Mikey is a good come forward fighter? Watch his fight against Burgos. Mikey is an excellent counter puncher but he's never fought a good pure boxer like Lara or even a Trout. Easter is not a pure boxer, he's a lengthy guy who fights on the inside. Mikey's kyrptonite is an elite boxer that moves. It's also Canelo's weakness but he's been there and experienced that against Mayweather and Lara.

By the time Hurd fought Lara, Lara was old and lost his legs. Put in the Lara who fought Canelo and Lara wins. C'mon man, Mikey isn't a come forward fighter, you think he's suddenly going to hunt down Lara like Angulo and knock him out. Please man.

youre right, hes a natural counter puncher, but his perfect 1-2 will force everyone to have to open up at some point, and you can match him or beat him the first couple punches, but he knows what comes after that. he dont wanna chase you, but if he has to he will. he walked broner (who i put in the same league as lara) down, and made him looked scared. seriously, what has lara done to deserve such lofty status?

Broner in the same league as Lara? What??!? C'mon man. Broner isn't even a pure boxer, no footwork at all. Lara is constantly moving, giving angles. Lara absolutely clowned and 12-0'd Trout.

Mikey needs to beat a Loma or Crawford to convince me he's on that Canelo level and I see both of them beating him. To be fair to Mikey though, Loma/Crawford are in their prime while GGG was still a great fighter but not in his prime.

see, we judge fighters differently. i think you look for who who looks slickest, i look for who is more effective in achieving the end result in the ring, which is to exert your superiority within the set rules. if wilder ko's the top 5 hw in less than 3, he is a better fighter than loma. he will never be a better boxer, yet no fighter at any weight would stand to him.

I just think Lara is a far better overall than Broner. Broner win wasn't even that good for Mikey. I'd rate the Easter win above it. Porter already 11-1 Broner. Maidana beat his ass too.

Canelos very good but not great imo.

A primed out Canelo cant beat a 36 year old Golovkin controversy free... a G that, imo, is thete for the taking, and for my view, there's little doubt for me personally a younger Golvkin wins fairly convincingly.

But the old guard passing the torch is a boxing tradition... it is what it is. I also expect Golovkin to lose to BJS and Jacobs if they fight as well.

At this point I think Canelo vs BJS and Jacobs are very competitive matchups in which anyone winning wouldn't surprise me (and actually, yes I probably do pick Jacobs over Canelo)

    Now... that all being said.

Canelo is a damn good fighter with a damn good resume and yes I rate him over Mikey, and quite easily.

like i said, i wont argue mikeys opponents, i was just wondering who lara has beat that stacks up higher than what broner did across 4 divisions, win or lose.

When you actually analyse what matters... its who have you beaten. Its who have you shown you can actually beat, and be effective against.

Wiping out mostly relative no hopers in multiple divisions is overrated *when compared to* beating high level fighters and established champions.

Its pretty simple for me at least... who has consistently competed against and beaten the better fighters. And the answer to that question is Canelo... and its not really that close.

    Just imo though
