Can you recognize the boxer on this picture?

I've just re-read the thread or should I say read the thread properly this time and realise this isn't a guess the famous boxer by the pic thread. atsch

This is my first venture into the Classic forum and I've made a complete prat of myself.

 

That isnt Monzon in the first pic.

 

The big guy in the shirt looks like Al Braverman.

 

The boxer in the first pic is definitely not Carlos Monzon. I'm certain of that. As to he is, I can't tell...but that does look like famed NYC manager Al Braverman on the left. I suppose the fighter is one of Braverman's lesser known boxers.

 

The heavy guy on the left is Al Braverman, a loudmouth trainer/manager who was the son of the jewelry store owner downstairs from Stillman's Gym. He kept comin' up to the gym, and just gravitated to the business.

 

Two possiblities are light heavyweight Frankie DePaula, and junior welterweight Adolpho Viruet.

 

I think you hit it, k; he looks very much like Adolpho Viruet, the more I look at him.

I'll answer anyway, Peerless Jim Driscoll, but i think it was rhetorical

 

Viruet ,for my money too.I know I know him ,its annoying.

 

Monzon or Yaqui Lopez

 

The guy certainly resembles Yaqui Lopez, but I know that Yaqui was taller and more slender. Yaqui's face and head especially were thinner than the guy in the photo.

As for Monzon, no way.
