I wonder if all this praise for Baldomir's chin, durability, record, and opinion means that *******s and Floyd haters will stop discrediting Floyd's victory over Baldomir, and admit that it was in fact a meaningful win. After all, before Floyd beat him, these same haters were saying that Floyd was scared of him for the very reasons that you praise him today. Then Floyd beat him and he was crap.

Also, Baldomir is 39 years old. How come he's not old like Shane Mosley?

Dude you honestly fail to see the difference between Alverez and Mayweather beating him? Baldomir is a decent fighter with an amazing chin. He's little more then a gatekeeper that got lucky against Judah. So Mayweather fighting him was understandable, he was lineal and all, most people knew he would get the decision. So when he did get the decision obviously no one was impressed. Alvarez at 19 beat this gate keeper and actually knocked him out. So he got passed the gate keeper which is important, but more important then that is he knocked the guy out. That is a demonstrastion of amazing power. Same with the Mosley thing Alvarez 19 establishing a name for himself so fighting an old guy is understandable. Mayweather #1 beating an old guy, while again a fight that needed to happen, not impressive.

his analysis doesn't make sense in light of his other stated opinion that he favors Floyd, a counter-puncher, to beat Manny.

Dwyer is a legend, though, "understand".

Hey man I love Pac but give the kid a break he is only 20 right now. So around the time Pac beat Saskul. Good win for Pac but I wouldn't necessarily say better then KOing Baldomir. Though before we start saying this guy is the second coming lets give him a few more fights. He has power that's for sure but he's got a long way to go to prove himself.

It was a decent win, against exactly the calibre and type of fighter he should be fighting right now as hes still coming up..... but i dont put TOO much stock in this KO. Baldomir is an old, worn out fighter with no defence who has absorbed his fair shair of punishment throughout his career, it was only a matter of time before that chin deteriated. Not saying its not impressive regardless, but im not so sure other top fighters wouldnt have done the same at this point. But, Saul showed a lot of good things and hopefully continues to improve. It was a good win and he is still, regardless, the first person to ever stop Baldomir.

Id move him up a bit now, face someone a bit higher in calibre, and while im not completely sold on him, i enjoy him and his fights, root for him, and hopefully he continues to shine.

Thats just it, Baldomir has never been an 'elite' fighter, and was always looked at by most who knew what they were looking at, as a hard working trail horse type fighter that had a great night against the perfect opponent at the right time (in judah), and its not a mistake, or a surpise, that he hasnt had one meaningful win since that fight, which has been what, almost four years?

He was a solid fighter, with a granite chin, but never elite. And when you have a fighter with a good chin, who all he does is take punches every fight, and you start nearing the age of 40, and you were never really that that good to begin with (dont get me wrong, hes a good fighter, you dont compete at the top levels without being so, but im talking relative to the other various welterweight champions and titleholders in the last 5 years that were elite, or close to)

All in all, i really dont think this KO should be looked at for anything more then it is, a young, up and coming stud knocking out a faded veteran whos at the end of his career and has absorbed too much punishment in his career.

Not saying it shouldnt be celebrated, these are the type of fights Canelo should have had at that stage and on top of that, he did exactly what he should have, props to him, no doubt. But i still think it should be kept in perspective.

Nothing but respect to Alvarez though, awsome KO, I hope he continues to improve, and to win. I feel bad for Baldo and hope he gets out before this becomes more of the rule, then the lone exception.
