Canelo Alvarez vs Callum Smith is set for December 19th

I think PBC is a bunch of phonies who fight nobody for the most part. The only exception might be the Welterweight division but that's only because Porter was the one making all the fights there. Without him they've never put on a decent card.

That being said.....Plant is far better fighter than Callum Smith. He would beat Callum and Ryder's ass on the same night.

 

Why do people seem to think Smith is open to the body? He uses his range well so they don't get body shots off, even in the Ryder fight he didn't get hit with a lot of body shots and Smith struggled with Ryder because he's a southpaw, I have never seen a fight where Smith was open to the body and do you not think Smith knows to look out for Canelo's bodyshots

 

At 6’3” he does have ample room to hit and Canelo’s ability to work the body is one of his strengths. Smith is currently working on body shots during training so I hope he proves everyone wrong but not banking on it.

 

I just think If Smith takes center ring, establish the jab and keeps his punches long and doesn't start mixing it up close, he will win, however if he starts mixing it up close that would be silly Canelo is more skilled, but I've seen time and time again, if a big fighter establishes hard straight punches against the smaller in height and weight fighter, it is very hard to counter because when the taller fight throw's them long straight punches out and the smaller fighter throws his counters out they fall short because the taller fighter is not going to his range to get hit

 

Smith does not need to be working on hitting the body of a guy who is 8" shorter than him.

He needs to use his physical advantages of height and reach and time Canelo coming in.

 

Never said Smith should hit Canelo’s body. The post I was responding to asked why people thought Smith was vulnerable to body shots. At 6’3” Smith has extra body for Canelo to hit. I also mentioned Canelo’s ability to work the body... you drunk?

Unless there is a secret rehydration clause, this should be a good fight. Smith should be able to use his size to keep Canelo on the outside and wear him down. In reality, if Canelo is still standing when the final bell rings, I predict another controversial decision in favor of Ginger Snaps. Smith will need a KO to win and Canelo is smart enough to shell up and avoid the knock out. People will complain, Canelo fan boys will celebrate as usual and boxing will take another step closer to the bottom of the barrel. Maybe dig a hole below the bottom.

 

Canelo is the guy that would challenge AJ or Wilder with a 6 week notice and throw in a catch weight limit for the HW title
