I'd imagine facing an opponent of Canelos caliber is just as alien to Benavidez.....

The defense will make a difference. It will be interesting to see how DB's offense looks after he gets tagged with a good counter shot. If he holsters his gloves, it's a wrap. Canelo pummels him. DB needs to get off and step out of range, unlike Mungia that let his hands go and forgot about moving his feet. Just stood there waiting for Canelo to punch him. I don't see DB being that foolish.

All Benavidez needed to do was wait one week to be able to force the WBC to strip Canelo ONE week.

How is waiting one week to exercise his right as a mandatory putting his career on hold??

You realize he could have sued the WBC if they wouldn't strip Canelo right?

Instead he flees to 175 to fight for an interim having his ranking at 168 removed.

Tell me how does that make sense to you?

    1. Canelo was never going to be stripped of anything. Haven't you been paying attention to how the WBC has protected Canelo these past three years and kept Benavidez from him?

    2. Canelo would not care about being stripped by the WBC, even if they did. That would not be an incentive to fight Benavidez.

    3. Benavidez still has his ranking at 168. That was likely a stipulation for accepting the move up.

    4. It was the WBC that squeezed in the offer for Benavidez to fight at 175 as their fake deadline neared. Why wouldn't they have just waited if they were truly interested in honoring the deadline?
