I don't think they care much about the title but more so about the name. We all know the ABC titles are a joke a lot of the time, especially the WBC MW title, a complete farce. Picking up the MW title is a nice accolade for Cotto and Canelo, but they are much bigger than the title, they are fighting for money and dominance. The WBC title mean nothing at this point. Not sure why so many of you give it so much importance.
Guessing his definition of "earn a fight" is he has to prove to be someone Canelo can beat, and cut weight to a made up class... GGG clearly isn't going to dance, ****** for that stuff so Canelo isn't interested. Unfortunately for Canelo this mandatory business should be enforced and boxing will be saved from more of this kind of bollux which ruin the fun.

I can't believe how many people are defending Canelo here. Regardless of whether you're a fan of GGG or not, he is way more deserving of a fight with Canelo than someone like Kirkland.
I would rather any fighter fight a fighter a division below him with skill, than a BUM in the same division. You fools act like you haven't followed boxing very long. Throughout the ENTIRE history of boxing fighters have been moving up and at time down to make fights happen.
