and they would have a point. thats why i say, you take the win for what it is. its not nothing, but its not to be compared with what others have done in that situation. maybe canelos team wants to better acclimate canelo to 175, before establishing himself as the undisputed best at 175. if they fought at a cw, and canelo won, i wouldnt make him a better 175 fighter than bivol at that point. but if they then rematched at the full 175, and he won again, then its legit and only beterbiev is left to contest the claim. you have to remember, canelo wants to fight a good 4 more years at least, and hes running out of challenges already. and he fights at least 3 times a year. so he has plenty of time and ways to squeeze the most juice out of whats left of this orange. thats why i see ward coming out of retirement at some point, if for nothing else, for the money. and because there is nobody left to test canelo.

He fought Cotto at 155 won & claimed he was The WBC middleweight champion BUT When he was told to defend that title at the correct 160 limit against GGG the coward meekly handed back his bogus belt. Anybody can get down 5 more lbs through proper diet and fasting.....with no water cut. Not allowing proper rehydration shouldnt be allowed
Nah, if a fighter needs to rehydrate that much they shouldn't be in that weight class to begin with. IBF have 10% make that a blanket rule imo.

I think this is one of the most important points to come out of this, that people are not factoring in how difficult that was for Canelo to move up to 175 and fight Kovalev. That would be like Mayweather fighting at Middleweight something he never did. Many people literally laughed at the idea that Canelo would move up to fight Kovalev until it was announced. We need to really look at this Canelo Bivol situations objectively and not feed into the usual hysteria that comes with Canelo and weight debates. I'm looking for consistency that's it. And when it comes to Canelo vs Bivol I think it makes sense to happen at 168 for a lot of reasons, but if Bivol needs time to get down to 168 I think he should have the time to do that so we can see if he can make that happen. But in the meantime Canelo should be focused on 168-lbs, not Light Heavyweight. Canelo went up and KO'd Kovalev in a special match, but now he is unified at 168-lbs and that's where he should be fighting. There are a lot of young hungry lions at SMW that want to challenge Canelo in his own weight class. He doesn't need to be chasing around Light Heavyweights.
