The point would be to see could Floyd Mayweather Jr., who turned pro as a Super Featherweight become the WBC Middleweight champion?

Yes, and Canelo dropped rounds to Gomez. That's all I need to know. If it was his strategy, which it was, it was a dumb strategy. He is SLOW. Good at a lot of stuff but painfully slow. I don't think a slow guy is something Floyd needs to worry about.

This seems obvious. Not sure how people can seriously think he has a shot against Floyd. Gomez hit him with plenty of clean shots, Floyd would hit him at will.

Khan why do you hate Khan??? because it would be ass whooping of a life time for Khan. Out of 4 you mentioned Martinez is hardest opponent but i dont think Floyd would fight him, and i believed Pac vs Floyd was 60/40 in favor of Floyd but after Marquez fight its more like 85/15 Floyd! I dont see Canelo winning more than 2 rounds so i dont know what is this hype how he would be hard fight for Floyd!

Canelo is too stationary for a mover like floyd. Canelo is dangerous
when you hang in his wheelhouse. Floyd is fast enough to stand
in perfect range and bang saul all night without tasting too much
back. floyd, being the cherry picker he is though, would probably
relish this fight and pass it off as some sort of great win. True
    'nados wouldn't be fooled though.

I'll take Floyd by stoppage-Canello gets hit way too much-Floyd would put whats called "easy leather" on em n stop em-I'd say in the 10th round

Ortiz if he only had a brain could of given Floyd a hard night when he had him against the ropes. Actually outta all the young guns like Berto, Kirkland, Canelo, Ortiz, and Jones I liked Ortiz's swarming style to give Floyd fits the most, only Ortiz used his head, but not in the way he was supposed too. Canelo is alot smarter than Ortiz, but I think he lacks the speed and stamina to compete with Floyd. Floyd sees you gasping for air or slowdown for one second he'll pounce on your ass. I do like it that Canelo doesn't look for a ko all the time because againt Floyd it would be extremely foolish to knock him out. Canelo isn't a particularly good inside fighter either, but if he can replicate what Mosley did for the first 2 rounds by jabbing to the body and then right hook upstairs he can give Floyd serious problems. So smarter, yes, but I don't think Canelo is as physically dangerous as Kirkland, Ortiz, or Berto. Those guys are battle tested you can't say the same about Canelo. At least not yet.

I like Canelo. He is a big kid with a lot of potential. He has a lot to learn in regards to stamina and timing. I think he would be better suited staying lean and in the lower weights as he is not all that tall.
