Canelo-Khan is actually a very intriguing match up

What is wrong with this fight?

Khan tried to make a fight with Floyd. Floyd chose Berto instead then retired. Khan tried to make a fight with Pacquiao. Pacquiao chose Bradley instead. Just a few weeks ago in the crowd Khan confronted Floyd once again but it is clear Floyd didn’t wanto fight.

So Khan is trying to make a big fight with someone who isn’t scared to fight him. Canelo is man enough to fight Khan. This is a fight that makes sense. Why are you so negative in criticizing this fight? This is a huge fight!! And a fantastic way to open the new Las Vegas Arena!

No it's not. Canelo is huge at that weight and he can throw down some brutal combos. Khan's punch resistance is **** and he will get caught and probably early. They are using Khan in hope of getting another spectacular KO to further hype Canelo.

I don't know why you are getting this notion that I cared for Mayweather-Khan. I didn't buy Mayweather-Berto because it was a ****py matchup, but Mayweather-Khan wasn't good either and I wouldn't have bought that either. I've said for years that Khan had a minimal chance, because he is lacking in so many areas, particularly ring IQ.

I've always said that Khan gets overrated because he's fast and people look too much at that and forget too much about the numerous other aspects of boxing. I often bring this up because many other fighters get underrated on their skill level because they lack the flashy hand speed and look "ordinary", and I don't want their skills to get overlooked.

Khan can look good at times against certain opponents, but when a fighter disrupts him from his game, he gets flustered and resorts to bad habits and instincts. I've seen him constantly make similar mistakes which gets him in trouble time and time again. He gets flustered and then gets sloppy and the mistakes multiply. Chris Algieri of all people tried to turn into a pressure fighter and got Khan off his game, and almost beat Khan. This is perhaps the main reason I barely gave him a chance in hell against Mayweather. In addition to the fact that Mayweather is light years better technically, Khan will just get off his game once Floyd starts timing him and hitting him clean. Floyd is not a big puncher, but you don't need to be to hurt Khan. But it's pretty pointless to discuss since they aren't fighting, so it's better to just talk about Canelo-Khan.

As for them being "great", that's just a matter of us having different opinions on what we consider "great", so that's cool. I just have a more stringent ranking. I reserve "great" for guys like Mayweather, Pacquiao, Hagler, M. Spinks, Chavez, Leonard, etc...or even fighters with lesser careers who are great for a short period of time (Curry). I put a lot of fighters in the "very good" category, like Cotto, Castillo, Casamayor, Simon Brown.

I hope you are right that it's a good competitive fight, but I just don't think it will happen. The height/range is one thing, but Canelo is a much physically thicker guy, and once he lands a good clean shot, I don't see it going well for Khan. It's not like Khan is some defensive whiz. His defense is largely his legs, his offense, and holding. When he showed some nice defensive maneuvers early on against Collazo, it didn't last, and he later resorted to holding and pushing Collazo's head down. This is very difficult to do against a physically larger guy like Canelo. Canelo is a good counterpuncher, and Khan most likely will get caught with something flush.

will make great paydays for both fighters and if all go's according to plan canelo destroys khan and the casuals will be foaming at the mouth for a ggg ppv. canelo will have the upper hand in negotiations and possibly Floyd triple g into wearing pillow gloves, bigger ring etc etc. great strategy by golden boy if the plan works.

Khan will actually pull the upset. He's a grown man now, his chin has matured, and he isn't weight drained anymore. He looked like a bunch of sticks at 140, this weakens your punch resistance.

Punch resistance that was always underrated to begin with, because a so called "murderous puncher" like Bumdana threw everything but the kitchen sink at him, and COULDN'T EVEN PUT HIM DOWN.

Oh, and all of this without using pillow gloves

So how is Alvarez, with his average power, going to trouble a comfortably-weighting, mature Khan?

He's gonna eat combos and jabs all night long, people will be so shocked by Khan's victory they'll act like the fight never even happened.

On paper it's a tossup. The judges will have it a blowout though

Seems a fight. Khan will need his legs x4, to become Spiderkhan.

Even if Khan is competitive though, he'll get jobbed.

    End of thread. Agree entirely.

This fight will be the end of Khans career. I don't see a 1 punch stoppage but an accumulated beatdown.

    Mismatch. Totally.

Canelo fighting Khan isn't any different from Golovkin fighting Lara, a fight that everyone wants to see apart from his fans :huh

Imagine if Canelo pulled GGGs **** and fought a Dominic Wade :rofl

I wonder if the same "Fury won't last 5 rounds against Wlad" idiots on here will be hard to find posting on this subject if Khan beats Alvarez in May.
I love the bold statements of fact before the event on these boards, followed by a bling reluctance to admit when wrong after the event.
Lets just say I hope it is, I think it will be an entertaining and intriguing matchup, and if the people on here don't care about it, or don't want to watch it, then don't watch it, let the people who care about it, enjoy it.

Nah, lots of us ate humble pie and a helping of crow after Fury won. Very few people gave him a chance. I doffed my hat.
