Rumsfeld said at the beginning of his video that "Going into the contest, some observers viewed the younger champion as the Man who would finally solve the jigsaw puzzle that was Floyd Mayweather." Who were these observers who thought going into the bout that Canelo would be the one to solve the Mayweather jigsaw puzzle? I don't remember such bold predictions favoring Canelo. From what I could remember, in the build up to the match, no one gave Canelo much of a chance. But many did expect Mayweather to be tested, but Canelo being predicted to solve the Mayweather jigsaw? Though when you look at the flow of the match, did Canelo end up doing just that and solving the Mayweather jigsaw? In terms of fight tactics, the Mayweather jigsaw was exposed with Mayweather glitching out and biting hard for Canelo feints as Mayweather was pulling back repeatedly like a robot a.i. glitching out in a computer boxing game. Canelo was game tester who tested Mayweather's software and exposed flaws and forced Mayweather to upgrade his firmware in the middle rounds.
A little of both. I think Canelo got acclamated to Mayweather's speed and quickness and was able to manuever himself to land some good jabs and body shots. As a result, evertime Mayweather senses the opponent is inching closer and closing the distance he either backs away if the opponent is bigger, or gets himself into clinches if the opponent is smaller and not as physically strong as he is. Against Canelo, Mayweather sensed that Canelo was closing distance and he went into a manueverablity mode where his body language say's he's dictating but there's very little effective punching being exherted on his behalf. While Mayweather goes into what I call pose mode, Canelo is outworking him in rounds. I dont give points to fighters in rounds for posing just becaue he looked sharp in previous rounds.
I think Primo Carrera was, not all boxers. And the only Mexican, who's being backed up by cartels is Canelo. They don't really do it to anybody else
The build up series really enforced the Canelo hype. I know first hand because many of my casual boxing fan friends approached me with the upset narrative. However there is more tangible evidence below with the odds history for Mayweather fights. This content is protected
Just shows you how great the man was. There was no fighter 154 and down who would be favored against him.
We're going to have to disagree. You arguing that FMJ won almost every round, giving any and all remotely close rounds to Mayweather, sounds like Mayweather bias. The judges gave Canelo 3, 4 and 6 rounds respectively. The argument that it was close is in line with the judges scores. You saying that every round was won by Mayweather and that all 3 judges were way off is a bold statement.
Pimp is such a Floyd Simp... He still thinks Canelo has not improved at all since that fight. Dude's getting senile and losing vision...
