Good break down. I don't think Bivol's jab doesn't needs to be great. With his length and ability to control distance his jab should be sufficient to keep Canelo at the range he desires. Add in the mix Bivol has good feet. Now, if Canelo can get on the inside, Bivol is in trouble. That is where the fight will be determined IMO. Who has the ability to fight at their preferred range. I will say it again, if Canelo fights the same way he did in his last 2 fights, meaning, loading up on punches, not working behind the jab and using very little head movement, he can be in for a long night. Good fight no matter what.

Well said, the ranges will determine how the fight goes. We'll see what happens, I'm still excited to watch it because you never know in this sport, anything can happen and sometimes it has in boxing history. Tonight can be one of those nights, highly unlikely, but possible.

That's why boxing is the best sport of them all. There's nothing like the anticipation of a big night of boxing. We wait all year for moments like this. The butterflies in your stomach, the unknown, boxing is unpredictable, theater of the unexpected.

I bet Bivol and over 9.5 rounds. This is a tough one. Bivol is going to have to KO Canelo to get the win. Canelo is crafty and will be hard to KO. Plus Bivol is so cautious, I am afraid he will just try to use his size and beat Canelo legitimately. Bad strategy because beating him legitimately isn’t going to give the Russian the W. Moral victory for Bivol and a gift decision are highly likely.

theyre gonna split rds for the first half of the fight as canelo gets in tune with bivols rhythm and finds the distance. around the 5th rd canelo will start timing bivol which will cause bivol to drop his output and take a more defensive, less aggressive strategy. around the 8th or 9th rd canelo will hurt bivol to the body, maybe drop him. wont go 2 rds past that. canelo will hurt him with a left hook around bivols right glove and finish him off.

Good point. I agree Bivol doesn't have a great variety of punches ; uses 1-2 straight combinaison most of the time. He tends to be feather fist. He goes inside his shell when under pressure. That might turn out to be serious weaknesses against Canelo. Bivol needs to step his game up. I easily see him win some early rounds. But if he just box like an olympian Canelo will end up connecting him with big shots.

100%, Saturday night boxing like this gets me more excited than any other sporting event. The anticipation is nerve-wracking.

Very plausible scenario and i'm guessing that's the template that all those picking Canelo to win are using. My take differs a bit in that Bivol will be more successful with his jab than Canelo expected and will probably take about 4 of the first six rounds. Some of this success will carry into the second half where Bivol might take another 2-3 rounds. If Canelo gets past that jab early and gets Bivols respect then I can see your prediction playing out to a T.
By the way, if Canelo wants to earn some of those early rounds he needs to not just push forward and try to out-muscle Bivol he needs to put on a clear display of his superior defensive skills or risk entering the second half of the fight with a clear deficit.

Bivol will school him but Canelo will get the decision.

i dont believe bivol will start out that strong. he will find out canelos speed is on a level hes not used to. this will cause him to try and stay on the outside, potshot canelo with 1-2s and jabs to the body. canelo will parry and slip under bivols jab to the head and counter with body shots. by the fifth rd people will be saying bivol has abandoned the jab, which seemed successful up to that point. canelo will systematically take away all those things that people think bivol does well. even his 1-2. and youll get the usual suspects claiming he threw the fight because of it. it will be easier than it looks.
i thought for a long time that bivol would be his toughest fight and a serious threat. after watching him closer i no longer believe that. i think he lacks the creativity to confuse canelo for more than 3 or 4 rds.

HOLD ON GUYS!!!! Did I wake up in a bizzaro world or something. ESB posters are having an insightful conversation about a fight void of name calling and hate. No nuthuggibg or over the top hate. Point and counter point debates? Nice to have you back ESB. Let's keep the positive dialog going.
