And only a someone who's agenda driven would think that Armstrong was 'a little past prime'. Armstrong was very old. In fact, he'd boxed 160 fights, had been fighting for 12 years and had took a lot of punishment over those years. Fighting for a world title 20 times in two years whilst the smaller man in 90% of those fights takes the toll out of a fighter. Then you have to consider that Armstrong's career would still be held in high esteem if he never even fought above featherweight, he'd burned alot of his time up by the time he fought Chalky Wright, Baby Arizmendi and Benny Bass. What's that saying? A flame that burns twice as bright, burns half as long? That literally defines Armstrong's career.

Although these are apparently just 'excuses' lol

On top of elite resume, he was very consistent. He only lost 5 times in a long career - twice by Greb (who he also beat twice), by HW champion Dempsey (and he lasted a distance), by Miske in DQ and by Tunney in his last fight. He always delivered and gave his best.

That's because people only look at age number. They don't realize how brutal competition Armstrong faced. Then think about the size disadvantage that he usually had to overcome.

But he didn't give Burley a shot, so he was an overrated bum.

Yeah, I also think the way he fought has to do with his quick decline. No-one who fights with that kinda ferocity lasts long, that's why I consider Pacquiao such a phenom. Armstrong took a lot of punishment, and gave a lot out too.

You have to wonder what he'd be saying about Armstrong if Burley had fought him and beat him. Take Gus Lesenvich, I don't underrate him coz he refused Moore and Charles title shots. That's just silly.

I wasn`t talking about jabbing, that`s a mistake Roy Jones used to make, when you punch to control the space between you and your opponet you are leaving yourself open to more counters, I meant controling the space with feints, Ray Robinson once said the shoulder feint is the most important move in boxing, Hagler used lead hand feints constantly, Gibbons didn`t use any.

Then I strongly disagree, because Gibbons used feints just fine.

Yep. It's well accepted Hank was a shell of himself and that can be found in any amount of articles. Not only did SRR take it easy on him in sweeping every round but the crowd did too. They knew Robinson was holding back and beating him compassionately but they also knew what it all meant and were most polite to them. Robinson took an enormous amount of pressure to get into the ring with his over the hill idol and he only reluctantly caved in when it was explained it was Hank's only way to make some decent coin.

How do you think Dempsey's power would hold up with modern gloves?

Tough call. Dempsey has advantages in pizazz and gusto, as an old timer should. However Canelo is just so modern even compared to modern fighters. When I see Canelo I dont see 2015, or 2020. I see decades, maybe even centuries into the future. Every time I watch a Canelo fight I feel advanced and sophisticated and it makes me think, yeah, this is good. I like it. Anyway Ill have to go with a draw

They still used gloves that went up to 16 ounces in sparring yet Dempsey consistently bullied and at many times knocked out his 220+ sparring partners like Godfrey, Tate, at some point he even broke the jaw of this 7’2 250 pound guy.

He was the ultimate “trust me bro, I won’t go hard” guy in sparring, kind of a dick tbh

Wow Canelo is so proven and he never lost to a boxer called "fat boy". Kinda hard to go against the Ginger Giant.
