Ok, lets discuss. I agree with Jerry Roth - Lara won 115-113. Lara a better boxer of the two, but Canelo is stronger physically and made the fight very competitive.
Alvarez won in the end. He went on to have big money fights with: Kirkland, Cotto, Khan and Smith. And there are many fight to come. Meanwhile Lara is fighting the likes of Ishe Smith, Delvin Rodriguez, Jan Zaveck and Martirosyan. Even if Alvarez had lost, i still think he would have moved on while Lara would have been in Limbo as he is right now. 154 just doesn´t have any stars in it.
That's the whole problem of how fights are scored. The "could go either way" ones get scored for the bigger name in at least 90% of the cases. The "He won, but there's a possibility the judges saw it differently" ones, are often "seen" differently if that's in favor of the bigger name. And then you have the downright robberies. It's hardly ever that fights are scored fairly. Usually the bigger name/home fighter only has to keep it close to take the victory, and that's in almost every country.
everyone knows who won even canelo and his fans, he even admitted it in his post fight interview that you win a fight by landing punches, lara did that and outlanded him, there's an article on boxinscene if you read between the lines he basically admits he lost, it's something like ggg will never fight lara if someone can find that post it
It was a very close fight, I personally thought Lara edged it but you could make a case for either winning it. I'm not one of those people who say "Lara beat him" and beat Canelo on the head with it, we see fights like that every now and then, fights that could go either way and you can't really argue when it goes against what you thought.

Exactly! I never liked the "they paid the judges" pretext. Didn´t Don King himself say that you can´t fix a fight? It is exactly as you put it. Mayweather, the richest boxer to date, had himself quite a few close calls with the judges. Dave Moretti was an official judge for 11 of Mayweather fights and he managed to give Andre Berto 3 rounds. Andre freaking Berto! Even Alvarez got 4 rounds from him...
