Canelo vs Plant - Video Preview & Prediction

Yeah, that’s pretty much the only logical conclusion but out of Christian charity and common decency I want to give him the benefit of the doubt. I don’t want to believe that someone spends that much time posting on a boxing forum…hell, any type of forum for that matter!

I think question marks are over Plant's durability and heart. This is his first big step up to elite level. I'm not sure he can swim with the sharks.

It'll be a great eye opener if he pulls off the upset because he's been written off by the vast majority. I think he has to box and move and possibly score a knockdown to win. Saunders showed some glimpses in how to make Canelo look confused with some slick movement behind a jab.

I think ultimately Canelo will land body shots and wear down Plant on route to a decision win or late stoppage. I don't think he can beat Canelo by simply outboxing him because i don't think he can win enough rounds clearly against him.

 

I agree. Even his avatar pics indicate the poor soul isn’t well, but it’s still troubling in a sad, creepy kind of way.

Agreed, I'll add to this what I've stated before about this fight ,Plant is going to have to get some respect by hurting Canelo at some point. Not wobbling him per se but nailing him hard enough to give him pause when attacking. If Plant lands pitty pat punches I can see Canelo just walking him down throwing hooks to the body then head and moving towards an inevitable stoppage. I'm really looking forward to this fight because Plant does possess the ingredients to beat Canelo. But as you pointed out, toughness , chin and how does Plant react when the going gets tough could dictate the day......Then again if Canelo blows him out in 2 or 3 we'll all be back to the , Plant was overrated to begin with thread.

 

I just don't see Plant troubling Canelo with anything.Maybe size. I expect a short fight.

 

Plant is the best fighter going into the fight that Canelo has faced in a few fights. I say going in because I do believe a prime and motivated BJS is probably his equal and Kovalev would be better. However both those guys were not prime and their motivation wasn’t quite where it should be. Canelo is not unbeatable. I thought Triple G beat him in both fights although they were highly competitive. Lara has an argument too.
Plant is confident, athletic and quick. A natural super middle in his prime too. He just can’t punch. I don’t see Canelo losing this because that would be just too much of a monumental upset against the biggest money maker in the sport. But I’ll be rooting for Plant. Something tells me he may perform very well in a week. Hoping for a really entertaining fight

 

I like @Rumsfeld who is a good man but he will be the first to admit he does not always predict it right. We know everything we need to know about Canelo but the big issue in this fight is Plant because we really don’t know how good or great he is. He is certainly the most skilful fighter Canelo has faced since Floyd and Lara and if he is as complete as I believe him to be he can and will give Canelo fits all night.

Won’t be the first time that someone stepping up has shown their true value in the contest. This is very much a close even money fight not the domination people perceive. The fact Canelo is mad and lost his cool want to smash Plant is not good for him.

 

He is better than Jacobs and Lil G therein lies a mistake if that is what Canelo and Eddy Reynoso believe. The correct thinking should be this is our toughest fight since the Gringo Floyd Mayweather Jr.
