But he won his eliminator 2 years ago.. Why is he being brung up now as soon as Alvarez win's that Title? I know I'm being disrespectful to Rhodes but he should be put before guys like Wolak, Martirosyan etc. Recent wins over Rocky Junior, Messi and Moore don't put him in front line for a shot, to me.
He's Alvarez's best opponent so I don't think there are too many grounds for complaint. It's a baby step compared to fighting the best but coming from where he was, fights against Matt Hatton whos not the best welter in his own country and N'dou who is a 147/140lber and mostly a gatekeeper its got to be seen as a positive move.
They probably deserve a title shot as much a rohodes does though in all fairness. Im happy rhodes is finally getting his shot though, and i hope he wins.
Do you think that he should win an eliminator and then because he can't get a shot within the next 12 months it should just be forgotten about? He should have got the vacant title shot against Alvarez. Everyone knows that.
Vanes is just all kinds of 'meh' to me. Lost to Ouma imo & haven't been overly impressed with anything he's done aside from maybe the Joe Greene fight which was alright. Rhodes has earned his shot, the WBC have screwed him for too long. He'll probably lose but he's a worthy opponent
and a win over Matthew Hatton shouldn't give you a world title. the Moore win was 18 months ago correct but its still a better than anything the guys your mentioning and Alvarez has ever done. Wolak and Martoroysion are top rank, as is contron so that fight doesn't get made. Angulo turned down a final elimiantor with rhodes and williams doesn't no what division he is in. theres no one else to fight......and to point out again. RHODES IS TOP 10 AND RANKED AHEAD OF ALVAREZ WITH EVERY SAIN PERSON you may think he is being fed to alvarez, goldenboy and the wbc may think its an easy fight like you....but your all complete mugs for thinking that because its not. as i said today this fight goes 3 ways 1) Rhodes knocks him out 2) Rhodes gets robbed 3) Rhodes loses a close UD and make Alvarez look **** alvarez has never had a fight above 154lbs. they will try and have a catch weight for this fight.
I don't really know who's to blame for the wait around. I mean, was it his choice to wait 2 years up till now or was he just cruising till he got the call to fight for the belt? I just don't like the fact that Rhodes is being brung up after 2 years, and you're right, if anything, Rhodes should have been fighting for the vacant title, not Matt Hatton. That's what I don't like more than anything. I'm not having a go at Rhodes. More power to him. I hope he gives a decent account of himself, but I still don't see him winning.
I guess people just aren't sure what the point is you are labouring here. So he didn't get the fight for 2 years, for the faults of boxing he should be jettisoned forever? Because you think he loses he shouldn't get the fight? You have no point.
They are all fairly on par with each other based on opposition. Fair enough, if it was the WBC that held him back, then I don't blame Rhodes, but as my argument was, why bring him up after 2 years? It's like they were just waiting for this moment to come. I'm not saying he'll be blown over, I just don't think he'll win it, and I still don't respect the fact that he's being given the shot after 2 years. Fair enough, it's not Rhodes' fault, but to me that's just a sign of protection in that they're wanting him to fight for the title now. You obviously think different in the outcome, but we'll see on the night.
It was the WBC's fault for promising a title shot but handing the vacant title fight to Manny Pacquiao and Saul Alvarez in catch weight fights. Before that there was no champion for a year as Vernon Forrest dies and Sergio Martinez moved to middleweight. I don't get why you don't like it. theres nobody thats been doing anything better thats prepared to take the fight or GBP would make the fight with. McCloskey is fighting Khan after beating who in the last 2 years???
Khan shouldn't have ever had a fight because he's been a favourite in every single one and most people thought his opponent would lose.
