did you respect Khan getting a title fight after 0 fights at Light Welterweight
did you respect Alvarez getting a title fight at light middle after no fights at the weight. he is a champion and has never had a fight at the weight?

No, what I'm saying is, I rather see him in another Eliminator, because his last eliminator for the title was 2 years ago and I prefer see guys like Wolak or Marti in there instead.

Ok, it wasn't his fault that he hasn't got the shot up till now, but he's being brung up by the WBC to fight Alvarez after 2 years of waiting.

My criticism was more so to the WBC for bringing him up now, not to Rhodes..

You're still punishing Rhodes though if you take that line, even if you approach it as a criticism of Alvarez/WBC. My own opinion is these organizations are all jokers anyway so fairness and transparency don't even exist and its pointless talking about who deserves what. The point is Rhodes suffered due to boxing politics, so he responded by playing the game himself by taking a few softish fights while biding his time. It proved a sensible decision if he is getting his chance, he could have fought a tricky nothing fight and lost and ended up with **** all. Or if he did what you suggest he could fight a second eliminator and lose and get **** all, even though he's already fought an eliminator once. It's like taking a second penalty kick for no reason. This is a chance, which according to the 'fair' rankings he was 'deserving' of.

As for the fight itself, forgetting all the politics behind this, I don't see that much grounds for criticism. It's probably Alvarez's best fight. He's fought Matt Hatton and N'Dou, who drew with Matt Hatton. It has to be seen as a couple of baby steps up from that, so why moan? There are enough people going backwards in boxing that criticizing people for going forwards is a bit silly.

Once again.... fair enough. My criticism isn't to Rhodes.

I just didn't like the WBC giving the shot to Rhodes after 2 years. I've learnt that it wasn't his fault so that I can understand, but to me that's just a sign of the WBC's protection of Canelo.

It's clear you see otherwise, in that Rhodes will win this and that others are seeing blindly into that this being an easy night for Canelo, but we'll see on the night..

I don't disagree with your post in any way.

Of course, it would be stupid for Rhodes to go into an eliminator when he's already gotten the chance, but me personally, I would have liked to have seen one seeing as it's been 2 years. I can understand that point of view, though.

It's his best fight. On paper, yes, but we'll see on the night. As Wallet said, Rhodes should have been given the vacant shot. Maybe I am disrespecting Rhodes but I don't rate him greatly.

I just would have personally have like to have seen Wolak and guys like Marti in with him, but their all at similiar stand points so my argument doesn't really stand here.

So you're problem is that they're giving the fight to Rhodes (who has fought for their eliminator) ahead of Martirosyan (who hasn't, and is below Rhodes in their ratings)?

Rhodes is the top available fighter in their ratings. Simple.

No, my problem is that he's getting the shot after 2 years. It's as if they were just waiting to feed him.

But as other have said, it wasn't his fault.

I hope you understand that my sole criticism was towards the WBC.

Did you make a similar thread when Khan was ordered to fight Salita? Cause that really was a waste of time as you put it. :hey

2 wrongs don't really tend to make a right though. If the WBC take a different line Rhodes doesn't get a title shot which he's already fought for the right to.

By the way you realize if you have a second eliminator involving a fighter thats already won one eliminator and was jettisoned that there is actually no point to eliminators as they have no credibility? They don't have a lot of credibility this way, since its been 2 ****ing years, but that actually makes it even worse rather than improving things.

I don't see how anybody can see this as "feeding" Rhodes to Alvarez. Alvarez couldn't get Matt Hatton out of there yet Rhodes stopped Jamie Moore.

The first JMW he's faced and an ex-'World' title challenger at Middleweight?

I agree he'll be rusty, but why is Canelo suddenly such an amazing talent?

Rhodes will make this very competitive IMO. If he'd fought recently, he'd win.

The title means nothing. As another test for Canelo, it's a good one, stylistically.
