In a perfect world. Not when you're dealing with two huge egos. I also think GG's PPV's will start to rise.
It's common knowledge Canelo was struggling to make 154. What's changed? Dropping weight is really gonna screw Canelo up.
Its propaganda that he's struggling to make JMW, he makes 155 with ease and people are saying he can't drop 1 extra pound? Watch him dominate WBO champ Smith then tell me he's struggling to make 154.
Canelo is not scared though. He's trying to make the best deal he can as the A side. Nothing wrong with that!
Again, we're looking here at 2 huge egos. GG won't care what Canelo's done in the past. If they fight next year and GG owns all of the 4 belts, there's no way on earth he's going to give Canelo the shares that you have quoted.
The thing that I don't get is that GGG can't afford to let Team GGG's ego (I don't believe GGG has a big ego myself but his team sure do) stall his career. They are on borrowed time unless he wants to continue in to his 40's which may not be a wise thing. He should look to play the longer game like Canelo has, take a short term financial loss to make a longer term financial gain. He stands to make a lot more in the future by beating Canelo asap unless of course Canelo is his end game and he just wants 1 big pay day down the line. If Canelo beats GGG what next for him? fan's will encourage him to move to 168 then 175 to fight Ward like they are asking GGG. Canelo is way to small to fight at 175 like GGG could (as GGG is a huge 160lbser) The casual fan thinks size doesn't matter anf that everybody can move up 4+ weight classes with ease. They will be gagging for him to move up as GGG has been asked to do. Canelo's got 10 years ahead of him why risk a fight asap with GGG when you can draw it out and make demand higher and earn more coin.
Great post. I'd just like to add that despite what people may think, I'm not even a huge fan of GG's. But I have to tell it like I see it. The deluded part of his fan base is what's caused the irrational hate against him. I fight his corner but when I see the ridiculous threads proclaiming he'd easily have beaten Hagler, Toney and Roy etc, I just shake my head. It's hard to find a great debate on this forum. If you support a fighter, you get labelled as being a biased hugger. But if you criticise a fighter, you then get labelled a hater. It becomes tiresome. It also appears that a lot of people can't understand it if you're fans of GG and Andre Ward. It baffles them in the same way as if you tell them you like both Manny and Floyd. It's like a playground on here.
I really hope you're right. If GG can obtain all of the MW belts and he can fight Canelo, I'd then love to see him move up to SMW.
I want to make 2 points: 1. You have the opportunity here to have an objective debate that we can all enjoy. 2. Every time you use words like "Bumlovkin" and "GGGstans" you are embarrassing yourself and showing us that you're completely biased. Regarding your other points, Canelo and Ward were not willing to fight him, and Hopkins showed no ambition of moving up until he'd lost to Taylor twice after spending 12 years in the division.
He's done what every other fighter has done in his position. Fights against Canelo, Jacobs and Saunders would all be good meaningful fights. If he could fight and beat those guys, then he'd probably look to move up to SMW.
