Welcome back. He was terrible tonight, close to losing against a no mark. It’s not a reflection of his true ability but Canelo would whoop him.
No it is completely relevant when we compare a Canelo fight on styles. Canelo has evidently struggled in three of his fights against Lara, Mayweather and Golovkin (first one). Whilst there is only one official L, it's quite clear that he struggles against fighters with good footwork and a great jab, not to mention that like Lara Saunders is a southpaw fighter. You don't need to tell me that Canelo has improved, it's quite obvious. What's also obvious is that Canelo has a far lower output as he has climbed the weight classes. A fight with Bill will probably take place at SMW as it would be a "unification" if the promoters count Cannel's regular title and again this is a weight where I'm confident Canelo will have a reduced output. Canelo excels as a counter-puncher - good luck trying to counter-punch a master boxer like Saunders... The thread title says that Canelo will "demolish" Saunders which is indicative of a battering or a quick and easy KO as far as I'm concerned. If that is the way you see this fight going, that's a valid opinion but I beg to differ. Also, I will concede that Saunders is highly unlikely to knock out an iron-chinned Canelo and is therefore unlikely to win an official decision on the scorecards. Let's not also forget that most people on this forum rushed here after the Fury-Seferi fight and insisted that Fury is "finished" on the back of one lacklustre performance, many repeating that rhetoric after Pianeta. Then we saw what happened against Wilder. Likewise a couple lacklustre performances from Saunders doesn't mean much given, as someone pointed out above, Saunders is a fighter who fights at the level of his opponent.
‘He fights to the level of his opponent’ is a nothing statement which fanboys trot out when their hero looks bang average against bang average fighters. Put Canelo, Golovkin, or even Callum Smith in with Coceres, Isufi, Akavov and they all get chinned without losing a round, yet Saunders badly struggles. The Lemieux win is massively overrated given Lemieux was destroyed by Golovkin. Canelo would batter Saunders.
Gypsy hype Same reason they were saying Hughie was the most skilled heavyweight until they got proved wrong like 4 times .
Again another hindsight perspective. Look back at all the threads here and on general prior to Saunders-Lemieux. Most were backing Lemieux in a brutal KO. Also Golovkin didn't "destroy" Lemieux. He surgically outboxed him and broke him down through superior boxing. I was one of the few here who predicted a 12-0 Saunders win that before that fight. Very easy for people to call it an overrated win in hindsight. Look at the actual threads from way back. Bill was coming off a career worst performance against Akavov and a very dull boring win over a Monroe who didn't seem to want to exchange. Also the last sentence in your first paragraph is meaningless. Chisora knocked out Takam with one punch and Joshua didn't come close to knocking him down. Yet it is quite clear that Joshua has the greater power. A beating C easier than B beats C means nothing in boxing when you are analysing fights.
I don’t disagree that Canelo beats BJS comfortably on the cards but you do talk crap. Of course boxers can fight to the level of their opponent and BJS is a prime example. Plenty of other fighters in history have done the same. How many fights did Joe Calzaghe look crap in and barely scrape through yet no one denies he was world class... Have you never had a day at work where the job is uninspiring and you just go through the motions? Then another where it’s an exciting project and you get really up for it and smash it out the park?
Lmao Are you for damn real, do you actually watch BJS fight? He got hit clean TONNES tonight, by a nobody, its just this nobody doesnt have any power He almost got knocked out the fight before that, by a nobody And you think the best counter puncher in the game, with huge power will struggle to hit him? Why cant you understand BJS is fighting trash, and even then he still manages to get tagged clean many many times. Stop listening to the hype and just watch him fight, he gets hit plenty Never known delusion like that of some BJS fans Canelo will DESTROY him, just like the OP said
I’ve seen Billy Joe fight several times in person, have you? I don’t listen to hype on here. Like I said I haven’t seen the fight tonight so I can’t comment but Saunders also got tagged repeatedly by Akavov and then went 12 without even being touched by a far better fighter in Lemieux. I don’t believe Canelo’s counter punching style will be that effective against a Saunders who i expect to be on the top of his game should they fight. Let’s see how it pans out if it happens. What was your prediction when Saunders boxed Lee or Lemieux? Like I’ve said here many have written off Saunders and been proven badly wrong. For the record I predicted Saunders knocking down Lee and winning and also winning 12-0 against Lemieux. Saunders is my favourite fighter to watch and I don’t need educating on styles or being told not to listen to “hype” when he is concerned. And anyway for the record I’ve stated here that Canelo will get the W because he can’t lose on the cards. But Saunders makes life very difficult for Canelo, certainly doesn’t get “destroyed” and may well win the fight on a fair observer’s scorecard. Let’s hope it happens. There’s a reason why Canelo doesn’t mention his name even though he has a legit title at 168.
Every fighter has average fights, but Saunders has them all the time against seemingly everyone bar Lemieux and we’re meant to think he’s capable of a step up to Canelo levels? Do me a favour. ‘But but but what about Canelo against Lara?’ Again, nobody is saying fighters don’t have an off night from time to time. But again, Saunders has them all the time. Stick him in with someone bang average and lo and behold, he’ll do enough to win without ever looking that good. Bad nights for great fighters are a rarity. They aren’t rare for Saunders.
What is the point of saying you have seen him fight live three times, and asking if i have? It means sweet FA you seeing him live three times, those times you went seeing him live, i watched on TV in HD and had a better view than you, so totally irrelevant Why are you hanging onto Lemiuex like he is the pinnacle of boxing, what has Lemeiux achieved? Hes just a very hard puncher who is flat footed with limited movement and doesnt know how to cut a ring off. So BJS running round the ring for 12 rounds whilst not even remotely tickling Lemiuex isnt some amazing feat. He just beat a good fighter, thats all, its a good victory. Yet BJS fans make out like it was an ATG victory. Lemieux isnt even in the same realm as Canelo Youre insane if you think Canelo is scared of BJS. All BJS can do is try and survive. He can try and run around the ring and pot shot with his jab and hope to god he doesnt get hit. But there in lies his problem, hes getting hit all the damn time nowadays. By average fighters. So the sharpest counter puncher out, far better in every facet of boxing than anyone BJS has ever seen, will tag him, and unfortunately, Canelo has plenty of power I really do hope the fight happens because BJS will get knocked out or embarrassed.
