Well actually I watched the entire footage of that fight on YouTube when I opened the thread. So curious was I to see this guy I'd never seen but heard a bit about before this thread, who is apparently much better than Quigg according to Jeffro.

His opponent looked nothing to write home about, not better than Reid. If Jeff can chat some bollocks based on the one outing tonight it seems only right the opposition to this viewpoint can do the same :yep

I didnt know the whole footage was on youtube?

Ok, so break it down - talk to me about Frampton's performance against Bailey - what faults did you see?

I didn't see faults in his performance. It would be worrying if there were a ton of faults at this stage. I see faults in his style, just like nearly everyone has faults.

What you have to realize is my job isn't to pick holes in his performance, because I really rate Quigg as a very good prospect. So for me to give reasons as to why Quigg is better is more about what Quigg is very good at rather than what I think Frampton is bad at because I don't think he looks a bad fighter at all.

I think Quigg is very balanced, poised, and punches very sharp and straight. It's noticeable this guy throws a lot of hooks straight off the bat whereas Quigg uses a more consistent jab to set up attacks, he uses straight punches and works openings for the hooks and bodyshots, I think Quigg has a lot of method. I predict Quigg punches harder, this is just speculation, we can only make educated guesses on this based on punch technique.

And I come back to defence, Quigg has a lot firmer basis. The onus is really on you to prove that very relaxed style is a better framework for success than Quigg's defence because Quigg does the basics well and this guy has a riskier style and we're talking about fighters at an early stage of their career where they're not under a lot of scrutiny from opponents.

It is interesting to hear what you say about Quigg because I know very little about him - i watched his finish (premature stoppage to be fair) tonight - but that is about it.

But, you say that Quigg is 'miles better than Frampton' and that you have seen all his fight against Bailey - that is a very interesting comment - but apart from saying Carl thows a lot of hooks - you have ducked what I asked you:good

To be fair to TFFP I can see how he can make these assumptions based on the footage he has seen. There was footage of Frampton's fight with Kassai(filmed and commentated on by Sky but never shown on tv) on youtube which actually answers a lot of the criticisms you have of him, or rather areas you feel Quigg is better. He was punching straighter in that fight, letting combinations flow and was the one coming forward(and did so parrying and blocking lots of shots). That's not to say I felt he fought poorly against Bailey just different.

Here is one of his last fights as an amateur(winning the Irish Featherweight title) against another top amateur David Oliver Joyce: http://www.rte.ie/sport/other/2009/0...ateurs_av.html skip 4 mins in. Now I know that's the amateurs and this is the pros but Frampton had such a pro style even at that stage and the nature of the fight(both men fought as though it were a pro fight) means it'll hopefully be able to show you something of Frampton.

I haven't seen Quigg's fight with Reid, but I've seen a lot of him elsewhere. He's good, very good infact but despite his lack of pro experience I'd go with Frampton to get the better of him if they were to meet right now. Hopefully Sky cop the **** on and start showing Frampton, all shows he has fought on have been Sky shows and they have ignored to show him and gone with poor standard fighters/fights instead for seemingly no reason.

If carl continues to win then the two could well meet for a domestic title,it would be a good close fight and i'd be hard pressed to pick a winner.i'd slightly favour quigg as his movement is at present better than carl's,that was carl's problem when he sparred simpson at least.

I love Carl, great guy, great boxer and he posts on here as well (which is why I am being nice about him).

Yes he is a closet Rangers fan but that a side he has great power, ability, determination and boxing intelligence.

I think Jeffro is being harsh with regards Quigg, Quigg is ahead of 'Brick Fists' at the moment. Carl hasnt been tested outside of sparring and has a long way to go - its a really pity that SKY have failed to show much of his fight footage.

I heard this week that he got dropped by a bodyshot by a lightweight (he is a super bantam) maybe that is what the earlier poster was alluding to - I've yet to confirm that with Carl but I was there when he sparring Jason Booth and he more than held his own.

    Quigg beats Frampton imo..:good

I'll say 1 thing though, If Quigg stays were he is he will struggle to progress, He needs good quality sparring and good quality training...:good

why doesn't frampton get any coverage? shouldn't his promoter be, well, promoting and pushing for sky to show at least highlights like they have been doing with other prospects.

I haven't seen anything of Frampton so I can't really comment other than to say that if people on here say he is better than Quigg then he must be some fighter. Word of caution...I suppose that given his level of opposition so far it may be too soon to objectively judge Frampton at this moment in time (performances in sparring mean **** all)

I disagree, at this stage performances in sparring against quality opposition will tell us more than fighting the likes of Szabo!
