Meh, some may use this as an argument to tarnish somewhat what Froch has/will achieve, won't wash with real fans IMO. Like others have said Froch is lean and 'just right' for 168lb so why pump-up with weights etc to try and appease some fan-boys (who'll never give him his dues anyway)? I'd prefer to see him extend his run @ 168lbs, do as well as he can and call it a day when he diminishes (significantly) past his best. Boxing can funk you up quite badly in later life if you get too carried away with 'The Game'......know your limits, try your best and that's good enough for me wether it's Froch or anyone else.
staying at weight and becoming the best is more admiral then doing a 'toney' eating burgers pizzas and cola all day to make heavy, that laziness. he should of been ranked up there as top middle and smw.
I wouldn't say it will impact negatively on his legacy but obviously his legacy would be enhanced if he also won a title at 175.
I thought Froch would outclass Stevenson when he was the mandatory and was disappointed when he took on Groves rather than pushing for the 175lb belt after Dawson was sparked. I still think Froch would do a number on him even at 175lb but perhaps he knows that something won't carry to light heavy. Who knows about Kovalev yet? He looks good but hasn't been tested properly bar for Cleverly who likely ends up good not great. Kovalev's punching power would be a nightmare for someone coming up the weights though and a silly fight for Froch to make (shouldn't happen, won't happen). Anyway, I agree with everyone above who states it doesn't matter anyway. The biggest fight left for Froch if he gets past Groves is a rematch with Ward. Maybe Golovkin but his true ability won't be known for a while either. Mystery option c is to take a payday or two against whoever brings the cash. A Chavez Jr for relatively easy money say. After that let the legacy take care of itself.
So far there has been no need for him to step into a higher weight class, he's had massive fight after massive fight all at 168. If he ran out of opponents (like Andre Ward) then a move up might be tempting. Right now he's getting mega pay days at the weight he's suited for.
Froch v Hopkins for the WBA and IBF light heavyweight titles? Would be a big fight and Froch could main event over in America like he always says he wants to. Doubt Froch would move up but that fight could tempt him?
