This of course means that his fight with Ward is now for the Super 6 trophy, The WBA belt, WBC belt, and The Ring Magazine belt. Despite many bumps in the road, it looks like the Super 6 will be a success after all.
As innovative as the Super Six was, the claim of winning it is no longer as valuable as it was at the beginning of the competition - where it still had all of the participants. But that aside, I think Froch deserves to be number one. His current 168 resume is more solid than Ward's - who hasn't yet had the chance to bulk his up. But of course this will all change when Ward beats him in the final and goes on to do bigger and better things.
No way man, everyone will remember the Super 6 for many years to come. That trophy is MASSIVE for one's legacy. The fighters who dropped out only showed how hard it was to make it to the end, let alone win it all.
Yeah, I agree. I'm not saying the Super Six trophy is worthless. I'm just saying that the tournament would have been even more special if the best fighters remained in it. I mean, it took a huge dent when Taylor, Dirrell and Kessler were forced to drop out.
This tournament has been a huge success. And the rankings reflect this. Bute has sought to protect his ranking whilst ward and froch have signed to fight a whole host of legitimate top ten opposition. Promoting froch is absolutely the correct decision. It gives the s6 the reward it deserves and hopefully encourages more innovation by showtime. As an aside kessler is more deserving of the winner than bute, both legitimately (he has fought both finalists going 1-1) and technically (he is champ emeritus).
What's the point? Super 6 has been a success AND Showtime is going on, trying to make the winner of Kessler-Bute face the winner of the tournament. What's the problem? You don't like good boxing match up? It's not like if Bute has refused to be part of it. He was not invited. It is only fair he has a chance to prove himself.
Good stuff I have no problems with him being rated that high him and ward are 1 and 2 in the division.
That's the way it should be. Having Froch as #3 was ridiculous. The Super 6, despite everything, had been excellent. Any time the elite of any division fight each other again and again, with no time-ups in between, it has to be a good thing.
I love the super 6 and I'm a Bute fan... in case everyone was wondering if it's possible. The tournament offered a great opportunity to see some of the top SMW one against the other. I'm not angry at Bute for not joining, because he was not invited as told by everyone.
