I am trying to keep the post lengths down between us.
Please answer my questions and stop ducking -
Tell me, what big SMW fights have American/American based SMWs won in Europe? There wont be many and I have noticed many of these fighters get phased when in Europe. Its a tougher scene at SMW in Britain, which would favour Froch.

You note how good Jones was at SMW but who did he beat? Toney who didnt do anything at SMW to show how good he was at the weight, who was allegedly having weight problems, in a fight where I dont think he looked overly impressive.
So give me this great SMW run down and then think if the fight was in the UK against prime Froch, not the faded version still active

    bailey,

Ha! What a load of bollocks.

I don't know how many SMW's have won in Europe over the years.

    It's of no relevance.

    I wouldn't care if was 2 out of 100.

An irrelevant stat doesn't mean that Carl could have beaten Roy.

Have you even watched both fighters?

Roy would have beaten him like he was nothing.

They were worlds apart in terms of speed and skill.

Toney, who'd just knocked out Tim Littles and was considered one of the best fighters on the planet?

Malinga who gave Eubank and Benn great fights, before going on and beating Benn and Reid?

Roy beat them both easily, as well as Eric Lucas after playing semi pro basketball, who beat Mercado, Catley and Sheika, and at one point looked like a potential opponent for sir Joseph.

Let's be real, do you really need a run down?

What could Carl have done with Roy?

He had a punchers chance at best.

He would have had no answer for Roy's speed, accuracy and power.

A guy who comes forward, with a poor defence, against Roy at 25?

    Come on.

    He'd have got hammered.

    Everyone knows it.

froch would last longer than joe cal, but he would finish with the same, a loss.

actually, may I correct that statement, joes not getting in the ring with anything near prime roy, so he wont lose.

Froch doesn't win a second of any round...

Jcal would at least have a chance to land some punches.

You are saying Froch would be the favorite over prime Jones Jr at 168 in Europe based on stats?? That would most likely bankrupt the entire city of Las Vegas.

Jones had a short stay at SMW, but lets not act like he didn't look super impressive there. Some fights are bigger than the weight class, Jones-Toney at the time in a very young weight class was just that... I looked at that more like two great MW or LHW fighters going at it, because not too long before, that is exactly what it would have been. Malinga was a very good win too.

Why not just look at the fighters?

Can you not see that Roy is a level above Froch? I argued for Calzaghe as well in this same argument.. The true greats would have been too much for Froch, who has lost to the two best fighters he has faced, and one of them was past his best.

I am a fan of Froch, but I am also a realist... He is a tough warrior, but he wouldn't do well against the very best.

It makes me sad to see that my favorite fighter, a blood and guts warrior, now has annoying fans that troll the internet trying and act serious when they make claims about how Froch could hang with a guy like RJJ.

i don't think froch is athletic enough to compete with roy. he has certain intangibles that have made him a fantastic fighter, but i think he would look lost in there with a prime rjj

I cant believe this thread has gone on this long.

Its like having a thread on who would win between prime Hatton and Whitaker.

This thread is actually worse, because I think Hatton Whitaker would be more competitive than this fight.

Why do you keep going on about venue dude? First off all SMW, big fight and Europe don't belong in the same sentence. Secondly, I think I watched Crawford travel to Europe and beat up Burns. I guess Terrence didn't get the memo about how tough it is to fight in Europe. Crawford isn't a SMW, but he is a better fighter than Burns is. Which is the bottomline generally speaking. Same with RJJ and Froch. Being in the UK doesn't grant Froch anymore ability to fight. If anything his advantages are a ref who will let him rabbit punch and roughhouse all night long and of course the sketchy judging. Since venue is all important I suppose you think Hatton only lost to Floyd or Pac because the fights were in Vegas.

Only fighters that I've seen decent amount of footage of would that I would make the favorite over the peak version of Roy Jones would be Bob Foster & Michael Spinks. Yes, Spinks & Foster were light-heavyweights, and RJJ's peak was 168, but RJJ fought under the same day weigh-ins (or Spinks did for most of his LHW reign, his non-fight rematch with Eddie M. Muhammad was a cause for the change). RJJ would be a 175 under the old weigh-in procedures during this time.

I won't put guys like Charles, Moore, and Harold Johnson because I need to see more footage of them. Qawi would be a very live underdog. Farmer Froch would not be.

Im talking SMW not other weight divisions. You are confusing yourself.
Now tell me how many American and American based SMWs have won big fights in Europe? I doubt there is many as its a tougher scene.

Try and keep the posts down.
Of course home advantage is relevant at SMW. Tell me how many home fighters lost in the S6 competition?
Tim Littles wasnt considered one of the best fighters on the planet.
roy was fighting beaten fighters and not winning fighters, except for Toney who had alledged weight problems in a fight where both didnt look impressive to me.
Did you see how Woodhall who didnt have Jones power handled Malinga?
You forget that Carl is not prime now, but when he was he would have a punchers chance fighting away, but in the UK with the crowd roaring him on... You got to favour him
