I believe Groves could've beaten Froch if Booth or McGuigan trained him. Booth prepared Groves for most of his camp for the first fight and we saw the gulf in class before the poor stoppage. I had Groves ahead in the second fight before Froch landed that devastating right hand. We know now Fitzpatrick was a rubbish trainer but Groves only has himself and his ego to blame there. He got too big for his boots and didn't think he needed a top trainer. However, we seen the results when he's had top trainers in his corner. Unbeaten with Booth and McGuigan.

Nonetheless, Froch will always have two stoppage victories over Groves and nobody will ever take that away from him. The second of which was as stunning a KO as you'll witness. Therefore, any animosity he holds towards Groves is unnecessary and typical of his peculiar personality.

Always loves to watch Froch fight. Never enjoyed hearing him talk. A very insecure man, despite his fantastic achievements.

It doesn’t matter what Groves does, Carl will always have one up on him. If Groves unified the division then Carl could say “I beat him, could you imagine if I was around now”.

Groves could have had any trainer in the world, still would not have beat Froch. Froch was winning the secind fight when ge stopped him, was controlling the distance and winning battle of the jabs. Also lets not forget Froch was past his best by the time he had fights with Groves. As for his feelings on Groves, he doesnt like him with good reasons but at same time Froch has publicly backed Groves to beat Smith and also stood and applauded him when Groves eventually won a world title. Froch is well known for his dry sense of humour, hense the fighting in front of 80,000 comments etc.

Absolutely. True though he would dominate now. Him, Ward amd Kessler were much better than Whats in division currently.

Totally agree, but I think in Froch's head he is still a bit threatened by the success of others.

I don't think Groves likes Froch much, from what I seen he sees though Carl's ego and finds him vain and arrogant. Whereas Froch probably cant stand the fact Groves the lippy upstart beat the crap out of him in one of their fights, so likes to rub in the KO he has over him. Froch just comes across as so smug, personally I find him a lot less likable than George these days, in every interview he will always turn the conversation to himself, he lacks self awareness. I think in general Groves is a lot less bothered by Froch than vice versa, he just seems like a man on a mission with bigger fish to fry.

I'm not so sure about that, if Groves continued unbeaten and cleaned out the division for the next five years surpassing Froch's resume in quality opposition, the line would be "Carl beat me when I was young and inexperienced, he would never win against me now". But for him to do that is a tall order, testament to Froch's own achievements. Froch would always have those victories but Groves could possibly be regarded as the better, more accomplished fighter down the line. If only. Good luck George lol

Why did groves leave booth and end up with Fitzpatrick?

Groves seemed to take it in his stride with his interview with Koogs. He laughed and said he’d probably be saying the same thing if the roles were reversed. He genuinely seems over it.

I agree. I was impressed the way Groves handled it, in the past he would not have handled it as well. Though in fight week Kugan was out of order bringing it up, dont think it was appropriate. I think interview was awkward afterwards though.

I really didn't know he was this deluded and arrogant until listening to this. the tone if it is basically "i don't want to give credit with one hand and take it away with another", then proceeds to do just that, all the way through. nauseating stuff.

I was listening to that and flicked through further ahead where I just heard the following.

"I've never wanted to be famous...I haven't got an ego"

All I could think of was this:

The thing that made me laugh about the "international" superstar thing was that he tried to play it off as a joke. It didn't sound like he was joking to me. a bit like the 80,000 line, yeah its a joke now but it wasn't when he first came out with it lol

but that podcast, wow, the mask really slipped there, another ten classic Froch lines easily
