moved nothing like cruz. Condit used better footwork and never backed straight up with his hands down like cruz.
Condit had a good gameplan but honestly he didn't land a solid shot until the fourth round. He was on his back foot all night with Diaz landing the harder shots for the first half of the fight. I appreciate technique and strategy probably more than most but I don't think he won that fight.
yup i see it that way to and diaz got the only take down . i wish diaz try takin him down more it looked like while there were on the ground at the end of the fight he really was dominant once he finaly got him .
I like the thread title , in direct responce to Popkins's shitty thread i take it , if not then i guess in my mind it is :good On the performance and ranking it , Condit outclassed Diaz in a) striking and b) strategy Thats the bottom line , i scored the fight as follows 1 - Diaz 2 , 3 & 4 - Condit (4 being his most decisive round) 5 - Diaz With round 5 being the most debatable , but i edged it to Diaz because another 30 - 50 seconds and Condit was getting tapped :deal , despite him lighting up Diaz early in the round with his stand up Overall what can you say , Condit applied a strategy and Diaz didnt , Condit out struck him pretty much the whole fight and didnt want to do anything else , he looked solid in the clinch , and when he could take a forward step he did , it was a solid performance against a guy who if you stand in front of him will pepper you with combinations or submit you , i.e a very dangerous man , i thought the performance was excellent , i didnt see it as boring (but you have to consider , these idiots liken every fight to the Wanderlei Silva style KO's in the PRIDE , so if your not pumped full of gear and taking crazy risks in fights , then your nothing) , at all , infact quite the opposite Considering that MMA and strategy isnt yet a closed book , it was another performance where you can say fighters like Condit and camps like Jacksons are writing there own manual on fighting strategically in MMA , which shows us that this sport is still evolving and morphing all the time , to the point where it will become (if its not there already) the most sophisticated contact sport of all time IMO
So what about the 87 leg kicks he landed cleanly through out the fight Oh let me guess :huh leg kicks cant knock you out so they dont count !!!! Dude seriously , Condit was landing effective strikes the whole god dam fight , round 4 was the culmination of the continuous leg attacks where Diaz just didnt know what to do with Condit and Condit was now putting together his combinations in beautiful sequence , and Diaz was getting hit with everything Condit had and wasnt even throwing back :deal
I concur. I do not know what fight a lot of people were watching, as it seems they are giving Diaz rounds. Myself, I struggle and have to argue against myself and hold many things for granted to give Diaz more than 1 round.
I gave Diaz 1,2 and 5. 5 was the most decisive and major section of the fight with Diaz taking the back. That is the key moment and as close to a finish as there was in the fight. What is weird is both judges who scored the fight 4-1 in rounds, gave Condit the third, I agree that 3 and 4 were pretty clearly Condit rounds - I'm not gonna argue about it, it was a close fight. What it wasn't was a 4-1 rounds fight and it does deserve a rematch IMO - MMA judges are ****.
The amount of people who have turned their backs on Condit is pathetic. The backlash he is receiving for this performance is baffling. Are we just pretending that he hasn't had a stellar, very exciting career up until this point? Are we pretending that his performance in the Diaz fight was even that boring? Carlos basically didn't stop throwing strikes for the whole fight, yet there are people out there acting as if this was Quarry/Starnes II. The reaction to this fight has been absolutely absurd.
Give it a rest, he was crossing his feet and turning his body all night so it was hardly flawless. The rythm was just like Cruz.
