also LOL @ lumping them both together as these comparable plucky underdogs, as if Canelo hasn't been a negotiating table bully and stipulation diva getting A-side treatment against literally every opponent (that isn't named Mayweather) for years now.

And yes, I know "but he moved up several divisions to knock out a dangerous Krusher, doe" but - STFU.

I missed his fight but glad to see you've become a Black Magic fan as well. I'm on the bandwagon already.

    Round 1

Morales is turning in place as Gesta buzzes around him, gliding comfortably, seeming to have no ill effects from making weight and wearing it well compared with his last outing. Gesta floating the right jab, flashing it repeatedly in Morales' face to keep him more or less shut down. Morales finally snaps out of his stupor and tries a spearing right hand on the body, but Gesta rolls with it while twisting away and attacks from another angle with more right jabs in multiples and clap-down lefts or uppercuts into the gut. They clinch a few times and Morales is pushed down onto one knee, correctly not ruled a knockdown. Gesta jumps in behind the jab and flaps a few left uppercuts into Morales' throat as they clasp arms on the other side.

    10-9 Gesta

Marvin Somodio in Gesta's corner, as his chief second with Gesta's dad as his co-trainer.

Freddie Roach has basically passed responsibility for Gesta onto Somodio full-time, as he is already spread thin with his roster of newbies and "special projects", as Dougie Fischer explains.

    Round 2

Morales is lining up his right hand and hoping to catch Gesta in his sights while circling, but just skimming over his shoulder and slamming into clinches instead. Gesta doing a good job turning Morales and pattering down on the side of the head with quick right jabs, never setting his feet. Gesta with left uppercut and slapping right hooks combos as he shimmies by Morales on the inside, making him swivel and shell up. Morales lunging with right hands to Gesta's body and head and missing pretty badly either way.

    10-9 Gesta

    20-18 Gesta

Which is why I picked Gesta without hesitation. He actually made weight this time and then some, he looked sharp in the training footage, and I chalk that KO loss to Rodriguez up to both of them being southpaws. The shot that stopped him won't be available for Morales.

    Round 1 Gesta 10-9
    Round 2 Gesta 10-9
    Round 3 Gesta 10-9

Gesta starting to whip that ass. Morales came back and landed some nice rights though. Gesta regained control quickly after.

The actual match unfolding in the ring: three dominant rounds by Gesta

Jonathan Coachman, feeling awkward because a few seconds of dead air passed by without Fischer (who actually KSAB) having said anything: well *clears throat*, seems like, so far, a, um...pretty even fight...

"I think that right hand was enough to score the round for Morales."
