Any one ever heard rourke confirm that monzon knocked him out? what year was it? how old was monzon? Did monzon ever nearly come back to fight middleweight champions minter, anufermo or hagler, or any lightheavyweight champions? did monzon go broke or still have money? Monzon should have become a trainer

I've only read they had an exhibition once but I don't know the facts... Rourke said when he was on Leno that Tommy Hearns knocked him out in sparring though.

It's not much of an achievement knocking out Mickey Rourke.

Doesn't really improve Monzon's legacy, nor Hearns'.
Rourke's probably most proud of it though.

The list of great champions that retired at the top and not coming back is a short one indeed..Marciano, Tunney, Monzon...and I know there's an Asian guy in one of the lighter weight divisions that did it..

There are a couple of Asian fighters in the lower weights that have retired on a win and with an ABC strap. Galaxy, yes but he never really had a great resume in my mind. I agree that's who he's probably thinking of.
