That's why it's really hard to compare fighters of era's 30-40 years apart, there Wasn't a 168lb division when Monzon was at his peak, i think there were same day weigh ins also, and in Monzons day all title matches were 15 round affairs, i just can't see Froch fighting at 160 he's too damn big... If Monzon went up to 168, he would be smaller and at a disadvantage, both guy's are tough durable fighters who have faced A competition, to me it's a pick em 50-50 fight, they could fight 6 times and go 3-3, if i had to make a call i would go wifh Froch, but wouldn't bet on it...
Haven't watched much of Monzon, but his size advantage seemed to be one of the fundaments of his style. I can definitely see a case for the bigger Froch here. Don't know why this is so controversial. Froch would be a LHW in Monzon's era after all.
You rate him that highly, but say he is clearly the most overrated middleweight ever? ... because he can beat Froch, a fighter who is not even remotely great. I would understand your point better if we were talking about him easily beating Roy Jones Jr. or someone like that. But Froch is fairly ordinary, for a title-holder at 168.
Whatever. He leads with his face and almost trips over his own feet. It don't matter what you call it. He's not particularly good, and I've seen him thoroughly outboxed by lesser men than Monzon.
is there footage of froch tripping over his own feet? nearly is not. ward is significantly bigger and faster than monzon. winning fights where he got outboxed for periods is a not just bad for froch here imo, shows he could beat monzon if he got outboxed for stretches. On the other side of the coin we can't see monzon deal with a lhw, especially one with the tools to nulify a lot of what made him great. i.e alongside size, froch has great stamina, an unusual style, more power than any monzon opponent and a damn good chin. what if froch does hurt monzon? seems unlikely he can just hold on and wait out the round like he could to guys 20lb lighter than froch. this fights pretty close to 50/50. If froch was above 2.5/1 i'd take that bet for sure
