No, it's because he made tweaks post-Sanchez that made him a better fighter.

I think Sal Sanchez beats any version of Nelson by the way, just saying.

Man this is the last one im going back with as this argument is going in circles and you just are not listening to my points.

I dont think Napoloes and Griffith were shot. Napoloes was still good but far removed from his natural weight how can you compare Gomez jump to Napoloes? Even if you go by there weigths to the math. Ok a 4Lb jumpat 122 is equivelant to 6lb jump at Welter. Napoloes started at ligtweight. OK i already went over this:patsch YOu just arent getting it.
Ok the way you are talking about these guy, im sure youve seen the Napoloes,Monzon fight and it was apparent Monzon had huge physichal advantages. Were as Gomez was pretty much the same size as Sanchez and had a big advantage in power, he was also a huge favorite. Not the case with Napoloes,Monzon. Monzons wins over those guys were good but not as great as it looks on paper.

One other thing you said losing your skills is a gradual process, and yes this is true most of the time. But ive seen it countless times were some fighters due lose it over the course of one fight seen it Countless times. Im sure youve heard the cliche"Getting old over night" thats not a make believe term it happens all the time.

Believe this Griffith was still a helluva a fighter but on the decline he was having some pretty tuff fights with welterweights that he would have beaten with less difficulty in his prime(Denucci,Muniz,Ernie Lopez).

And you dont see the difference in comparing the shorter Pryor to Arguello as to Napoloes and Arguello:patsch Please tell me you know the difference cause im wasting my time here if you dont. Arguello moved up to fight Pryor and Arguello started out as a feather . Pryor was naturally bigger physically. Monzon was taller and the naturally bigger man Big Middle agains Small Welter. Tell me how was this an advantage for Napoloes:huh

Also when Duran fought at Bantam he was like 16 and he still moved up right after that. Napoloes fought at lightweight when he was already a grown man well into his 20s.

Im not diserespecting your knowledge G pater:good I think a lot of young guys know alot about boxing. Hell I know alot of Old timers that probably think im not clear when talking about fighters from their generation.
But one think i do know is that if you were fans in those eras its easier to get a grasp for how special and not so special certain fighters were. And to hear someone downplay a well respected fighter like Lopezs career really irks me on i tend to take their opinion on that fighter with a grain of salt. Look im not old dont know where the hell Bodhi got that im 39, but ido remember Lopez,Sanchez etc although Monzon was just before my time as a hardcore fan. I wouldnt Put Lopez as high as Napoloes or Griffith PFP but him being a legendary puncher and great fighter at his natural weight it is more impressive IMO than Monzon beating a smaller Napoloes and Griffith.

Before i go as i said in an earlier thread i am not trying to downplay Monzons resume as i think it is comparable to Sanchez maybe overall even better. My argument was that Sanchez 4 best wins were at least as good as Monzons 4 best wins. Somehow that all got thrown out the window:good IM done with this argument, at least i think i am:lol:
