    1. In modern fighting weigh-ins Ortiz may drain down to FW. Ortiz is ofcourse far better P4P just as Mayweather is far better P4P (remember Mayweather gave up around 10-15lbs in this fight).

Castillo would be the bigger stronger man, 2weight divisions bigger, and as such Ortiz would have the same upward batter against a bigger man that Mayweather had. Because of his size Castillo has the better power, chin and strength.

    2. You do realise Bazan and Lazcano both beat Stevie Johnston, both champs and were top5 contenders?

    3. If you see my LW list you'll see I rate Ortiz highly BUT hes still the smaller man. BTW make your mind up if you want to give Castillo the Mayweather win or not. If you do Castillo has a better 'win' than anyone Ortiz has faced :yep

    4. Behind most on Ortiz's resume? Behind Locche and Laguna, the rest, NAH. AGAIN CASTILLO WAS MUCH BIGGER THAN ORTIZ OR ANYONE ORTIZ FACED, HENCE FMJ HAD TROUBLE WITH HIM.

FIGHTING 154LBERS IS HARDER THAN FIGHTING 135LBERS :patsch

    5. I've seen plenty of Ortiz, I'd like to see more. Mayweather was strong, powerful, Mayweather is a master in fighter, no ones outfought him on the inside, Castillo couldn't hit Mayweather clean most of the time on the inside.

    6. In fighters Mayweather's faced - Hatton, Castillo, Chavez

    7. Ortiz isn't the biggest puncher, he's got very good but not great power, remember he threw allot of punches to get stoppages. I'd see Mayweather as a more damaging puncher, punch for punch, mainly due to accuracy.

Power is a close call, but Ortiz isn't landing most of his shots anyway, his punch connect percentage will be low and his output will drop because he'll be getting countered and pick his shots more carefully.

This boils down to who you see having the skill advantage, I see Mayweather having that and the speed to take this clearly

    8. I said hee was past his prime, Tyszu still had his power as he displayed against Mitchell a few months earlier.

    9. I've said Ortiz is by far the better P4P fighter, but you clearly haven't boxed otherwise you'd know its harder fighting a bigger stronger man thats 2divisions above you that can take your punches easier, push you around and hits heavier simply because their bigger. Ortiz may well beat Castillo, would it be easy, would it ****

Does anyone have any figures on how much Ortiz weighed come the time of his fights?

Are we just supposed to take it for granted that Castillo was 2 weight divisions up on him by fight time? Personally, I find it hard to believe.

And personally, I find it hard to believe that it matters a dime anyway when he was getting all he could handle from natural 130 pounders (Mayweather, Corrales, Casamayor) and smallish lightweights (Johnston).

Even if Castillo is 10 pounds heavier, he'd still get his ass kicked by Ortiz.

I thought Bazan lost twice to Johnston, just as I thought Castillo did. Stevie was finished when he lost to Laz.

Orrrrrr, Mayweather isn't all that great :think

Yeah, he shattered his ribs with a glancing blow. Mayweather got taxed on the inside against Castillo and wanted none of it in the rematch. He stunk the house out to escape every exchange possible. Credit to him, he played to his strengths, but he got mastered on the inside against Castillo and he knew it.

Mitchell was all but done at that stage, and in any case, he had a weak chin to begin with. Fact is Tszyu hadn't been in a gruelling fight for many years, and when he was in one, he didn't look all that great. With Hatton hugging all night, Tszyu lost the little stamina he had and then put up the white flag.

I considered the Castillo/Mayweather fight to be basically a draw. Even if I gave it to Castillo, it still wouldn't be a better win than say, Laguna, who I thought was a better LW than Floyd.

At lightweight Ortiz would have been a close decision winner over Mayweather. Carlos was better than anyone Floyd ever fought, and would have dealt with him with his Laguna-beating patience and skill.

Ortiz one of the greatest 135-149lbers of all time. Floyd doesn't make top 10 for either list IMO.

Floyd is very, very good, but Ortiz was a nightmare....don't think Floyd could hurt him, and whilst Ortiz wasn't a huge puncher, he was a very hurtful one and brilliant technician who would box on the outside, work his way in.....in the centre, Ortiz would win.

If Floyd took the fight to the ropes....Ortiz would beat him down. Badly IMO.
