Hes not really lost any credibility in the ring,IMO.Its whats happened out of it,I.e. pulling out and talk of taking on opponents who are not really a step up in level for him.The only reason people want to see a Diaz fight is to see if he can do better than Amir.Poor justification for it for me.That is the kind of thing they do with 2 up and comers.Amir and Kell are past that. OK,give Kell the Jones return. Its made now.But surely step him up next time.I mentioned Mike Jones a long time ago.According to the experts Kell was gonna destroy him.But Rob says he's moved up.Wouldve been ideal, far tougher than Carson,Aydin,Diaz and some of the others.Has he actually fought at light middle yet?
I know but i am sick of him mate, im getting the feeling he is scared to step it up,can't understand it,just fight a top lad ffs
Bad matchup for Brook, because if he cannot get Jones out of there in the first 6 rounds, I think he is in trouble. Jones will rough him up again. Brook will still get the win provided he finishes on his feet. But if he looks bad again, then what? step him down a level again?
Im getting a feeling that there are jitters in the camp, I reckon it runs from top to bottom. There seems to be too much effort being expended trying to maneuver him into an easy title shot. Even Eddie Hearn seemed excited at the idea of a Purdy - Brook match-up, that would be Kells perfect scenario.
Yes.Put it in another thread that along with Lee,Hearn and Kell were the ones who wanted him to win tonight, before he didn't make weight of course.Ive thought for a long time that Eddie was hoping to get Kell a challenge over here.Understandable, but looking at the situation there may be nobody willing to give him the advantage of fighting in Sheffield.I think they'd got Malinaggi in mind before the Broner fight was made, and in the unlikely event of Lee winning, they'll be jumping for joy.
That is what I mean, he's lost a bit of credibility in terms of making a match. Who is going to want to line a fight up with Kell at the moment? So while Carson and Diaz aren't world beaters, they are serviceable opponents, if he actually turns up and dominates both he'll be more or less back on track for a big fight. I'm not sure what you say about Diaz is quite true, he did "beat" Shawn Porter, and the fact he pushed Khan is relevant. Not in terms of Brook/Khan, but just in that Diaz showed he's a solid operator that comes forward, and that is where we have concerns about Brook's defence and stamina. The quicker he can get these fights wrapped up in impressive fashion the better, as he has been treading water for quite a while.
Only point Im trying to make is that they're looking for easy options instead of being prepared to fight anybody anywhere.Although despite losing to Hatton and Khan,Paulie might not be all that easy.Said before the Khan fight that I thought a Jones/Diaz fight would be 50 50,so thats just one reason why I don't agree with you about Brook being any kind of *****.
Think Malignaggi is a decent fight for anybody that wants to prove themselves (sort of). He tends to get overrated, a whole lot, and therefore he's a good guy to fight in that respect. When he gets smashed against Broner his stock may drop a little.
Agreed with you about him losing credibility.Definitely agree about him treading water. But don't you think he should up his level of opposition?Jones and Diaz are both good and IMO about on a par,but how far are they{now}away from Bradley,Alexander, and Provodnikov. These are the kind of men Kell will have to beat to get a title.
They're a long way off, but its difficult to find a route that is going to perfectly prepare you. All you can do is prepare all aspects of you game against different styles, and we know for a fact Kell's questionable under pressure late in a fight, his defensive reflexes don't hold up, so that is the best place to prepare him - so Carson and Diaz are okay fights to test that. You're not going to test that chasing after Malignaggi in a battle of the jabs, on paper Brook has had a lot of soft opposition, and I don't just mean soft because they're D grade, they're soft because there havn't been an awful lot of competitive, tough guys that come all night despite lacking a little finesse - like Jones and Diaz. He's had guys like Jackiewicz who is okay but a European type "rigid" fighter that was easy to outspeed and outbox for a guy like Brook, Hatton who was in his shell all night, a few imports that were easy to knock over etc. Those guys are the top fighters, a level above, so you're not going to find fights that make a perfect progression towards them. No matter what Kell does this year if he steps in the ring with a Bradley or even Provodnikov on his last fights evidence its going to be a bit of a shock to him.
Cant see either beating the other easily.Diaz at one time ,maybe.Id agree that he has been the better fighter. But if Brook stopped him he'd be able to throw it Khan in a war of words. What would it really mean?
