1. This is true, but more unlikely - Mayweather still got the win, he doesnt need an excuse 2. NO THEY WEREN'T LOW. Listen to the pre-fight instructiosn from the ref. HE says 'THE BELTLINE IS LEGAL'. Castillo hits the beltline, he never hti below the beltline. According to the refs very own instructions these were legal blows. Hatton play acted in the second round and the ref took his side. Hatton was very unsportingmanly in claiming to the ref and in the interview they were low - they were not. 3. Whats deluded? Plenty of 'warriors' quit under fire when they are old/tired or not at their best. Or don't you think Duran/Tyszu/Frazier are warriors???
1. There's no evidence either way, so i can speculate just like you did. 2. If the ref did indeed say that, then maybe your correct il have to look again. However, Castillo has a history of hitting low repeatadly in fights and im pretty sure the referee knows that, hence he has a reputation and will get punished quickly. 3. Well obviously it happens, but you have to remember, Castillo hadnt taken the punishment those guys had. Its probable that Castillo had won the 3rd round and certainly wasnt fairing badly in the fight. Why would he quit? Hatton had softened that area with a couple of shots, then hit him with the best body shot hes thrown in his career, not many would have stayed up from that.
Herman wasn't experienced enough. Castillo kept working. It wasn't a gift. Ali couldn't spark out lesser opponents than Foreman, does that make Foreman a weak win or underrate the finish? I wonder how shot you are when you are throwing and landing as many as Castillo was. Problem is Hatton was always a step ahead.
Hatton was massacring Castillo to the body all night and that wasn't the first to hurt him. Hatton was hurting him prior to that and talked about hearing him wince.
1. Fair enough 2. Castillo did not foul on this occasion. Castillo has got a history of bending the rules (no more than Hopkins or Hatton though). But if the ref says beltlines okay, Castillo is entitled to wallop the beltline. Poor Refereeing 3. Tyson was a warrior too, against Holyfield/Douglas he took massive beatings before being ko'd. Against Williams and McBride he folded like a deck chair. A fighter can only take so much pain from this sport before they lose their will to take beatings any more.
Herman-Castillo was CLOSE but I had it to Herman as did 1 of the judges and yes I'd say it was a lucky gift win for Castillo. Castillo was getting his head boxed off and was backing off against the novice african all night. Lets not forget Herman had a very close fight with journeyman Randal Bailey in his next fight - an SD too unless I'm mistaken If your gettings SD gifts against journeymen level fighters then you certainly are no longer a top fighter. Surely thats beyond debate. Yes Castillo did land good shots on Hatton but Hatton was there to be hit because he threw 60+ shots a round
All fair enough, though i dont agree that Castillo just folded, i think it was a shot bang on the money and he couldnt continue. I also dont think either Castillo or Mayweather faked injury, maybe four ribs was an exaggeration but i imagine that punch did break his ribs. And Mayweather was clearly bothered by both shoulder and ribs during the fight.
My original point was I'm not sure if he folded or if he was genuinely destroyed by the bodyshot. I'd say both were possibilities or maybe the truth lies somewhere in-between. IE Could have got up but would have been ko'd soon after. Likewise Hattons bodyattack may play a big role in the fight. But it may not either, do we think Mayweather is moving to Hattons right leaving his ribs exposed?
Only a very naive person gives Hatton NO chance ............. He cant match FM's skills , (Who can..???) but he has as good a chance as anyone FM's met up till now...........Even if he looses Im confident he will prove ALOT of people wrong about him...........Floyd is arguably the finest technician of our era but he was'nt made in a forge............remember that....
Well of corse that punch stop anyone, but Castillo didnt look like he was doing so good, probly would of went down later.
Hatton will have hell trying to land this punch on PBF. His best chance is against the ropes because it will be damn near impossible landing it on him in the middle of the ring.
